RE: Anti-Fur Activism in Toronto Today

in #humor8 years ago

How do you feel about fur collected from road kill, then used for fashion? Real fur is far too expensive, so fake fur is quite common.

From an activists' perspective, fake fur has to be treated the same way as real fur, especially when the difference is hard to tell. I don't know where you are from but here in Toronto, lots of people wear real fur trims. Some very popular brands here such as Canada Goose have a red badge which makes them instantaneously recognizable and that company only use the skin of animals like dogs.

Especially when the difference is hard to tell, activists should be mindful of those who intentionally wear fake fur. There are many who wear fake fur to be fashionable in Toronto because they do not support the real fur industry. I'm aware of the issue with Canada Goose, which was addressed publically that it was the negligence of quality control from outsourcing in China; which is still not excusable for Canada Goose using fur in general. There are some companies that strictly seek out for roadkill fur in Toronto as well. I reside in Toronto and I am also familiar with the fashion industry in Toronto. I commend you for being an activist. But I hope you'll understand those who compromise with fake fur so that they are not supporting the fur industry. I encourage you to look into the leather industry as well and the devastating destruction it creates in the communities of the factories.

I'm a comic, not a particularly good one but I still understand that devastation from industry isn't something that makes people laugh. Do you know a way to joke about it? If you do, then I'm interested. Thanks for your kind encouragements, even if they are pointing in a direction of little interest to me.

I apologize. I wasn't aware that was the intention. Even though the devastation from the industry isn't something that makes people laugh, the comic is able to deliver a message and perspective that enlightens the listener, whilst laughing. I would be the last person to know how to do that.
