Which grocery option is better during a hurricane?
Empty shelves? Or an expensive product? Is this price gouging? OR, Is it a rational and FUNCTIONAL market action?
Economic theory in most schools of economic thought would inform that high prices drive market action - high prices bring more people to the market who either excess product or who can obtain more product for resale.
Government 'intervention' against what they call 'price gougers' is anti-market and if we are being honest with ourselves, it is really anti-human and leads DIRECTLY to human suffering and possibly even death.
There is no perfect solution to a disaster, but government solutions are often far worse than market solutions.
My two bits, do not trust the State to save or help you - especially during a disaster.
