Jack fruit

Jackfruit trees are generally medium-sized, up to about 20 m in height, although some reach 30 meters. Cylindrical round bars, up to about 1 meter in diameter. The header is solid and bushy, wide and rounded when in the open. All parts of the plant release solid sap when wounded.

Single leaf, scattered, stemmed 1-4 cm, thin leaf-like leather, stiff, flat edge, ovoid up to jorong (elongated), 3.5-12 × 5-25 cm, with base narrowed little by little, and the short tip is pointy or slightly pointed. Leaves pointed round pea, up to 8 cm long, easily fall out and leave a similar mark of the ring.

A single monoecious jackfruit plant, inflorescence appears on the leaf's armpits on short, special shoots that grow on the sides of the stems or old branches. The male flower in a bale or bobbin-shaped hump, 1-3 × 3-8 cm, with a clear fleshy ring at the base of the nodule, dark green, with yellowish pollen and a faint smelling smell when cooking. Jackfruit flowers are called babal. After passing the age of cooking, the babal will rot (overgrown mold) and blackened while still in the tree, before finally falling. Female flowers in single or paired cobs, cylindrical or oval, dark green.

The compound fruit (syncarp) is spindle lengthwise, often uneven, length up to 100 cm, on the outer side forming short soft spines. 'Flesh of the fruit', which is actually the development of a flower tent, golden yellow when ripe, sweet-smelling sweet, fleshy, sometimes filled with sweet fluid (nectar). The oval-shaped seed until the jorong is slightly flattened, 2-4 cm in length, successively covered by a thin brown leather-like skin, a tough whitish endocarp, and soft eksokarp. The seeds are not half cupped.
