Incredible India Monthly Contest of April#1: Human intelligence vs Artificial intelligence!
AI is dramatically reshaping the human mind and society on a macro and micro scale. On a macro level, AI has started to become a mind-in-extension affecting our memory, logic and imagination. From search engines, recommendation services, and AI generation programs it has became less necessary to have the data encoded in our minds and our minds are therefore free to focus on interpretation and decision making (although analysis may be impaired if the answer is taken at face value as coming from a higher authority). On both the macro and micro levels, it has been discovered that AI has come to help automate redundant and monotonous tasks and make our work at the workplace more elevated, at work and in school.
On the macro level, "the advent of AI has begun to re-frame our work at many industries including those of healthcare, finance, transportation and communications, ushering forth some incredible advancements, and at the same time presenting new issues both economically and ethically, socially as well."
Then what does using AI give us? First, automation allows for increased levels of efficiency and productivity since it is possible to process more data and information than human hands are able to and allows the humans at hand to have more time and less money to work with. Second, AI allows for increased decision making and accuracy of such decisions since it can process more information and decipher what should be done with it;
This can be very applicable in fields such as healthcare when a health provider tries to make an informed prognosis that can save a life. Third, automation allows humans to be kept away from the fields in which they could be harmed due to hazards involved at the workplace, such as in mining or search and rescue operations.
Fourth, the high level of productivity and efficiency generated by AI helps in new and great discoveries of innovation to which would not otherwise have happened; all in all we are able to make previously inconceivable technologies! There are clearly some disadvantages associated with the use of AI. The largest disadvantage in regard to AI is unemployment since jobs have been automated and there is a great potential of the employment situation to decline in to the negative
