Hello all Hive friends

Now days the crypto is the word known to everyone. The way it is expending is amazing but along with that their is increase in scam and hacking risk also. Many times we hear the news that how the money of some of our known/unknown persons is being robbed by scamming or by hacking their account. So it's very Import to update ouselfs and be aware of the scams and hacking techniques.

In the crypto words it's very important to understand that The Currency in the wallet is belong to the person having the passwords or keys. So if you have no keys or passwords that means you can claim or make the transaction. The hackers and scammer also know the same so we must be vigilant when entering the keys. Don't use the keys in sits you don't trust or looks odds. This is very common technique the hacked and scammers used. They create a website looks similar (website spoofing) to some known famous site and share the website link on social media with some attractive airdrop or scheme. Once people open the site ask to enter the password. I suggest to always check the URL carefully before entering the sensitive information like your password. Check for the sentence they use, a official website always use the professional language. By reading the sentence on site give you a hint if it is legitimate or not. So always take some time to explore then site. Always check the URL carefully, at first it looks same but their is always some difference you will find when you check is carefully.

Another best way is to bookmark the websites you use and always open from bookmarks.

ICO or initial coin offering is a ways for crowd funding the new startups. I know very little ICO which delivers the output as expected and some of them does not exist now days. I am feeling fortunate that I have not put my invested in those ICO's. I am not saying that all are scams but it's not easy to identify the legitimate. The first step should be the white paper of the ICO. It should contain the enough information, the working or the technology they will use with proper writeup. If the white paper is poor or even not exists then be alert. To be honest I don't believe in those ICO's.

Fake apps is the another way the hackers or scammers use to get access to the sensitive information. Always download the app from the trusted source like Playstore for Android and Appstore for IOS. Those stores keep monitoring them and remove those fake apps. Always avoid the third part apps.

There I world like to share a incident happened to me last year which is a Blackmail and extortion scams. I received a mail from my own mail account, claiming that they have hacked my computer and captured my images though my laptop camera in a objectionable situation. As the proof of hack they are sending the mail to me from my own mail account. They share a crypto address and ask me to send some bitcoin to the account otherwise they will publish the material in public domain. They use some trick and looks that they sent the mail from my own account but it's just a trick of outlook. I never respond to those mails. So became full if you received similar mails.

At the end I like the summaries the points to keep in mind to avoid of being getting scared or hacked.

  • Always secure your password because NO password no ownership.
  • Always double check the URL before entering the information.
  • Avoid downloading the apps form third part websites. Always use the official website or the app stores.
  • Do your research before investing in any new scheme or ICO. Check their background and whitepaper.
  • Don't click on links popup on screen.
  • Don't use the same password for all your account.
