Before you read this, Let me tell you, I personally found these sentences to be true.
You can call me loser, failure - Whatever you feel like. Feel free to judge because I don't care.
This is going to be the longest article in the group
Every hour one student commits suicide in India.
The facts below have been written by Loy Machedo who is an uneducated School Dropout who today earns more than your average Ph.D holder and your IITJEE AIR 1.
THE AIM OF THE INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM IS
- To help create a nation of nerds & more rank holders whose only focus is to get more marks on Report Cards. More the marks, better you are. In fact your self worth is on the marks you bring in.
- The main focus is not to help you in what you are good at - rather to force you to fit into the system. More like forcing a circle into a square hole.
- To help you aim for 99.99% / an amazing CGPA with no guaranteed employment.
- To ensure you spend 20 years of your life studying and memorizing what you will never use in your real life.
- To help you successfully waste 20 to 30 years of the hard-earned incomes of middle class families so that the colleges can continue being in business providing outdated education
- To destroy your self-worth & self-confidence by comparing you to nerds who can memorize and who dance to teachers tunes
- Where the focus is More you study, less you play, the more better you are, the more the family prestige will grow in society
- And to help those who get good marks end with free newspaper and media coverage - which actually benefits the school/university.
THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM: - The outdated Indian Education System is run by a government who has no interest in Education. And the core decisions of this Education System are made individuals who have criminal records or who are uneducated themselves.
- Indian Education give 100% of memorization techniques and zero value on experiential learning, practical implementations and real life education.
- Creativity, Common Sense, critical Thinking, Money Management, Entrepreneurial Skills, Online Marketing, Personality Development & Self Improvement carry zero marks.
- The school science syllabus is designed to help you get good sleep if you cannot get it at home.
- Your success in the Indian Education is dependant on your ability to memorize boring, outdated, useless, bookish information which you can get easily from the internet and which serves you no purpose in your life.
- Whatever you study in school - the 50 years advanced and updated version of it is available online for free. But you are not allowed to read or study all this. The information you state in the exam must match the information in the outdated text book.
- Apart from Doctors & Engineers, 90% of Indians degree is not recognized overseas. (I know as I was in the Middle East for 40 years and I personally helped people get jobs)
- Fake degrees are rampant but then again - no one cares as everyone is making money (I know because in 2011 I met many in India who make millions out of this business)
- Indian Education follows a standard outdated system of testing - where you have sit in front of a blank paper and start writing down for 3 hours whatever you memorized for 1 full year. And then after that test - you do not need to remember anything.
- Indian System has limited choices and limited options. Indian Education consists of Maths, Commerce, Accountancy, Language, Core Science, Economics, Engineering.
- There is a reservation system that absolutely doesn’t make any sense.
- The cost of quality education for a doctor or engineer in a good college is equivalent to 20 to 30 years earnings of a normal average Indian.
- Illegal donations help in contributing to the growth of the university and hence improve your chances of getting a good seat in the college/university. So you are encouraged to contribute to the growth of education.
TIPS ON HOW TO GET MORE MARKS - THE INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM: - Have neat handwriting - 10% more marks
- Repeat word-for-word what was written in the textbook - 10% more marks
- Attend class every single day - even if you do not understand anything but make sure you warm your seat and pay attention to the teacher - 10% marks more.
- Wag your tail, praise the teacher and be teachers pet dog - 10% more marks
- Destroy all creativity, originality & Innovation in your style of thinking - 10% more marks.
- Show you are god-fearing, you do not have any girl-friend, boy-friend and you should not be gay, be part of a group - 5% marks more.
- Pray to god and make sure the teacher sees you in the same temple or church praying really piously - 5% marks more.
THE SECRET TO SUCCESS - THE INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM: - Read,
- Memorize.
- Reguigitate.
- Write.
- Erase & Forget.
- Repeat
MEASUREMENT OF INTELLIGENCE - THE INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM: - Memorization of Outdated Text Book Knowledge
- Blind Obedience of an Outdated Education System
- Submission of 20 years of your life to the Outdated System.
- Respect of Sub-Standard Low-Grade Salaried One-Trick-Pony-Teachers
INFRASTRUCTURE OF - THE INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM: - The School - Outdated
- The Curriculum - Outdated
- The Management - Outdated
- The Teaching Staff - Cheap and Best
- The Desk - Old but Repainted to look new
- The Lab - New Lab only for show
- The Rooms - Repainted to look new
- There is no such thing as a qualified Certified Child Psychologist or Certified Child Counsellor in any school.
- Most scientific method of Child Support is Ruler, Cane, Beatings, Abuse, Punishment, Complaints to the parents and dismissals from School.
ANALYSIS OF THE TEACHERS OF THE INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM: - Teachers are considered the ultimate authorities as if their judgement holds any importance in the real world.
- Teachers who salaries are the lowest in India will predict your future based on their outstanding intellect
- Most of the teachers preparing students for the modern future wouldn’t be employed even as Cleaners in foreign countries
- Number of Students Per Teacher - 1:60. The teacher has no idea who is who in her class.
- The job of the teacher is to ensure the alloted portion per month is read out to the students. If they cannot understand - it is their problem. According to them - the students are dumb.
- Most teachers get jobs by reading outdated text-books few minutes before coming into the class.
- The teachers update the knowledge by memorizing the same text book for 40 yeras of their life.
- Most teachers with only one skill - memorization of outdated information - teach this very same information to bright young kids. And then dull their senses.
- Teacher is always right. Hence you cannot question, challenge, complain or think out of the box of this teaching.
- The school teachers are boring and have unique skills on how to make a boring subject even more boring. And then they wonder why students fail
- On a serious note, Teaching in India is a low quality job. Most of the teachers teaching and training students for the unpredictable future get paid very pathetic salaries where they can’t even manage their day-to-day expenses which is why many of them resort to illegal tuitions. Best part most students end up getting paid more than teachers. Worst part you cannot correct a teacher, complaint against a teacher or question a teacher.
INDIAN PARENTS VERSUS THE INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM - We still live in an outdated society where if a parent informs someone that their child is a doctor - that is the greatest moment of pride and value, engineer has the second greatest pride and value and then everything else goes down in hierarchical value. With Commerce and Arts being the lowest.
- The mentality of the parents is to force children to study only to become corporate slaves who follow rules to earn a guaranteed salary not become free thinkers.
- Indian parents are of the opinion that if they are great doctors - children should also be in the same industry.
- There is great pride in having children study until their eyes are sunk in and they are exhausted memorizing that their brains are fried - is a sign of success. You can see the evident with a parent standing and smiling proudly for a picture while the child has oversized glasses which make the poor kids eyes cartoonishly big on their small frame.
- Parents force their children to make career decisions forcefully based on what they feel is right. So its either their way or the highway.
- Every decision the parent forces the child to make is based on benefits they will enjoy through the child in the future
- Parents consider it good parenting if they compare you to someone else - but you cannot compare your parents to anyone else.
- Parents force their children to choose the career they want and society applauds - not the career or the dream or the vision the child has.
- Indian parents till today count the cost of education, career, marriage and feel there should be a ROI to them after they make the children go through all this.
- Many parents give so much of importance to education - that they consider it their moral duty to even pressure their children by beating, hitting, screaming, shouting, cursing and even torturing the children to depression and death. Apparently they are doing their job as good parents.
- And if you are a girl child - you are told not to study too much because your only role is to get married to whomsoever your parents select, produce babies and be a maid in the house to serve others. And the criteria for marriage is based on how ‘educated’ (how much he could mug up) the groom is + how many money he can shell out to showoff + how much gold he can make the bride wear + how much you can parade you to the world that you can have a over-priced wedding inviting 3,000 people 99% whom you will never remember or whom will never be there in your time of need. So limited education for girls is enough. Because rest of the money that can be used for education is convince the groom to marry the daughter in a system called ‘Dowry’
INDIAN YOUTH VERSUS THE INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM - If you think out of the box - you are labelled ‘bad’ or a ‘rebel’ or at its worst ‘retarded’ (I was called this)
- You have more than 1,000,000 students who graduate every year who will fight for 10,000 seats. And the ones who get those 10,000 seats have been studying for 16 hours a day for nearly 16 years.
- Suicide rates are exceptionally high in India. But since it is not a news that is new or sensational to the news or media, no one bothers much about it. Something like who smooched who in bollywood is more important.
- The culture of colleges with its lost youngsters live in very difficult lifestyles. But the minute they come to college, thanks to peer pressure everyone is busy showing off, having fun and acting cool. And the peer pressure of religious festivities, silly man-made concepts like friendship day, casual day, lovers day, teachers day and religious festivals like Rakhee, Holi are given much more importance than the actual education itself.
- How does studying Chemistry, Physics, Geography, History, Algorithm in School help me 20 years from today in the business world or where will I use this information - No one asks this question. And if you feel it does help - when was the last you used any of the above information? Yes, they may be important - Do you even remember what you studied?
- Indian mentality hasn’t changed much since 1947. Just because they wear jeans or skimy outfits or bollywood movies show modernization - the mentality is still the same. A girl is consider lesser than a male. A man is given much more privileges than a woman, a guy can sleep around and be considered cool, while if a girl even kisses a boy - she is shamed to death.
- Majority students do not remember what they studied or memorized the following year sometimes the following semester. Do you remember what you studied in school? College? In your Masters?
- Nothing that you study in your school, college and masters is useful in the real world apart from Language skills. Oh yes, and if you are a Doctor or Engineer.
- Most students have to fight their way to get the 1% seats when competing with 1.1 billion people, and then 1% college seats once again competing with the same 2nd highest population in the world and then once again after getting marks - they have to once again compete the millions of people to even get an interview - let alone get a job.
- Indian education - either you become a nerd and succeed or become an athlete and succeed. However, only the toppers - 1 out of 1,000,000 is recognized as a rank holder. And in sports apart from Cricket - any other sports and you have to pay for your own training, travel, food, expenses & trip. And even if you win gold - apart from cricket - no one else is interested.
GLOBAL FACTS OF THE INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM - After 9th standard - you have only 3 choices or 4 choices - Science (which is supposed to be very superior) with being a Doctor as wow and then Engineer which is 2nd wow, then Commerce (which is lower than Science - although Businessmen earn more than Doctors and end up employing the doctors and engineerings) and then comes Arts where if you excel you get paid even more than all 3 if you are successful because of its creativity. And then lastly you have Humanities - where they apparently dump the ones with no hope in either the top 3.
- What does a computer science graduate know? Does he even know computer development? In Dubai, UAE, I have taken interviews of Computer Science students who don’t even know how to assemble a computer or know how to operate a computer. What is the point of this education then?
- In USA you can be a college dropout and have skill and be respected. In India it is a matter of shame.Oh yeah - and no family would want you to get married to their daughter.
- Overseas in Canada, US or Australia - If you are Plumber or Electrician or Graphic designer - you can earn more than a banker and you are looked upon with respect. In India - if you say you are an Plumber, Electrician or Graphic Designer - you will be treated like dirt and get paid a labourer's salary.
- Educational system where each person has to compete with 1.1 billion people for 10,000 seats in quality colleges & where 50% of these seats are already reserved for people with power, influence and money.
- Politics, Influence, Corruption and Bribery taints the Indian System even education. The students who get preferential treatment are either related to some politician, actor, doctor or someone influential.
- In Indian Education, Insubordination is not tolerated. So you have to follow the crowd.
- India & Indian System has a very narrow view of Success. For example People know Sachin Tendulkar How many other top level athletes are there in other sports - does anyone remember them?
- Educational system is not open for International Operators
- You are forced fed that obedience to the system is success - and that is why Indians grow up with the submissive attitude. And the ones who rebel do not have any critical thinking skills of how to voice out their reason. Where do you think the “yes sir” & “no sir” and the head nodding comes from? Do you remember seeing any westerner do this to an Indian man?
- An indirect problem in the the Indian culture is that it forces people to get married early and (instead of being in a live-in or lover status without commitment) forces them to have a children when they are earning less. And when the part of money is brought up - outdated superstitious belief systems are brought up - money is not everything to god will take care of everything, we will pray for you. And so having less money and more responsibilities - most young couples have no choice but to put their children into cheap institutions.
- How can the Indian system change when Indians take criticisms very personally that if you even criticize India, you are a traitor, if you criticize the government you can be jailed and if you criticize religion you can be killed by the mob? So with this kind of defensive mentality - if you make criticize the indian education - instead of accepting it - they get on the defensive to protect it and cherry pick points why it is great?
- In India if you follow rules - you are good. If you don’t you are bad and unaccepted.
- India is still a country where religion is paramount, religious beliefs are held with very high respect, respecting tradition, culture, the elders is what is important - and yes - family respect, name, privilege and status in society is very important. And where if neighbours or anyone gossips about you - what they say and think is more important - that what you think, feel or belief. That is where the family being so clannish and dependent on others in the society and so close
- even the education & the grades get part of the grading system.
- Today it hass has become a trend to study A, specialize in B, attempt to work in C and start investing in D and start a business E and finally after everything is over - end up with F. And then when they have their children - since they do not know any better - make their children go through the same torture.
- The majority of the people who run the educational system do not know even decent English speaking skills, they are narrow minded and are hierarchical slaves.
THOUGHT PROVOKING FACTS - THE INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM - Even though everyone knows that this system of education is outdated - the biggest problem is there are no choices for students other than this outdated educational system. So now what does anyone do and what can anyone do? No one has the answer.
- After studying for 20 years - Does anyone remember any rank holder from India?
- Majority of Indian students are unemployed for months and months after completing their education.
- Good Indian schools are less than 1% of the Indian Schools.
- Most schools are government run - whose objective isn’t to provide quality education - rather to employ sub-standard people and give them employment
- Today’s generation is being asked to memorize information 100 years old to prepare them for a life 100 years ahead by teachers who cannot survive 100 minutes in the real world.
- Most of the colleges take illegal donations even today
- Most students enjoy more success dropping out of school, than going through school.
- Most reputed companies never visit campus for selection
- Students do not know what to do in a corporate environment after graduation
- India is mostly known for Education but what quality of education?
- Kerala is considered to be the most literate state - but then why Keralites go to the Middle East to work for some of the lowest paying jobs?
- Why do you think Indians only ace the “Spelling Bee” Competition? But after that - what happens to them in real life - Nothing?'
- A student memorizes and gets 99% in Business Management. Why does that not make him good in either Business or Management?
- Indian when questions about the Indian Education bring up Sundar Pichai, Satya Nadella, Amit Singhal, Indra Nooyi & Ram Charan. Fine. What about the rest of the 1.2 Billion people? Does an exception to a rule make it the standard rule?
- In a System of Education where you have boys who cannot interact or speak to the girls, where girls have to sit separate from the boys and where it is a shame for a Boy and Girl to talk to each other. And because they haven’t taught them the basic social skills and given them the feeling that talking to a woman is ‘normal’ - they still wonder why Men behave so desperate when they see women. And this has to be blamed on Indian Education.- Indian Education System? What Education? What System?
- Quora provides more quality education than the Indian Education because here at least you have access to world class thinkers
- How is is possible that school dropouts like me with no proper academic education, where the teachers predicted I would be destroyed, where I never had any degree - today earn more than even a College PhD holder?
INDIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM - THE UGLY TRUTH - Worldwide however, the highest ranked IIT (IIT Delhi) is ranked at 179 in the QS World University Rankings of 2015, below India's highest ranking institute IISc Bangalore (at 147), while only 4 other IITs (IITBombay at 202, IIT Madras at 254, IITKanpur at 271 and IIT Kharagpur at 286) make the top 300.
- Over 80 per cent engineering graduates in India unemployable
- In ancient times, India had the Gurukula system of education in which anyone who wished to study went to a teacher's (Guru) house and requested to be taught.
The modern school system was brought to India, including the English language, originally by Lord Thomas Babington Macaulay in the 1830s.
