8 degrees South: Bali

in #indonesia7 years ago (edited)

Last year I boarded my first international flight with the destination being the tropical paradise of Bali, Indonesia. I had always dreamt of traveling the world, and this trip marks my first stop. I dipped my toe in the water and now I've been pulled in and never coming out. My trip to Bali truly opened my eyes to a whole new perspective on life and now I just keep wanting more of it. This island, known as the island of the gods, is breathtaking. So much life prospers here. The plants, the animals, the spirituality, the ocean waves, everything comes together making the most incredible environment.

The island of Bali is located about 8 degrees south of the equator making it a humid and warm paradise thriving with exotic life. The surf here is insane. I had never seen a wave so big in my life at one of the first surf spots I visited and the surfers there said that it wasn’t even a good day. This island has all the things I’d want plus more. The weather, the beaches, the surf, the beautiful plants, the indigenous culture, the unique food, the fresh coconuts everywhere you go, I could go on. This is a place I now see my self living, maybe just for a short while, but definitely on my mind now.

My travels took about 30 hours including a long layover in Sydney, Australia. I have never enjoyed airplanes, anxiety most of the time, along with my dislike of any thrill rides and fear of heights, but somehow when it came to a 15 hour flight over the Pacific Ocean bound to Sydney, I was all for it.

My excitement to finally enter a completely different country, culture, and environment was too strong to even worry about this flight. It was all sort of a blur getting to Bali, but the second I landed, it hit me. Humidity. It hit me like a wave hits the surface. To be honest it was pretty brutal as I had never been in such a tropical place. But seriously, the second I landed the reality that I was finally on Bali, one of the most desired exotic vacation spots around the world, it hit me, I had made it to Bali, Indonesia and I was the happiest I had ever been in my life.

Bali has many different areas within the island all being unique in their own way. I’ve now been able to visit and stay in most of them, definitely all of the more popular ones. Since there is so much to share about each area of Bali and plenty of pictures to go with, I will post about each in separate posts. Stay tuned to my next posts and feel free to ask any questions you may have!

So many of us close themselves to the world outside, as a reflection to their closed Mindset, and never get to see how much beauty there is all around us, so we become cynics and skeptics about anything and everything.
Sometimes we just need to have a nice trip around the world and see the beauty that we never Imagined to exist.

Nice post! Thanks for sharing :)

I truly believe that traveling in different countries and experiencing new cultures makes us better people because we get to see so many different views on life.

I like the way you write and look forward to reading the other posts. Your emotions remind me of when I was fulfilling my dream and going to Hawaii for the first time a few years ago.

Sounds like the air in Bali was a lot like central FL (or, Floriduh, as I call it!) - truly a beautiful place you are fortunate to have visited. Great photos and story @bailblonde upvoted, resteemed and recommended for promotion sweet Jenny :)

I don't mind flying but 15 hours is a long time to sit in a tiny chair.

All worth it though. Look at the bright blue of that water!
