Defense Minister (Menhan) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said that the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has divided tasks to support the national food self-sufficiency program.
Sjafrie said that the Indonesian Army (AD) and Navy (AL) will later manage the agriculture and food sectors.
This was conveyed by Sajfrie in a meeting agenda with Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the DPR Building, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (19/5/2026). He said that Indonesian Army soldiers will be assigned to manage corn and rice farming.
Meanwhile, Indonesian Navy soldiers will be assigned to manage soybean farming. According to him, soybeans are one of the food commodities that are widely imported from abroad.
