I am completely sensitive to the fact that the Amanda Todd incident that took place in Canada not too long ago was a horrific tragedy. However, at the same time, I can also be rest assured that country singer Loretta Lynn's kids would never want anyone equating their father (Oliver Vanetta "Doolittle" Lynn, Jr.) to monstrosities like Daniel Driver, Kenneth Parnell, Jesse Timmendequas, Joseph Duncan, III, or John Couey, just to name a handful of dangerous and deadly child predators.

I completely get it. Most parents would probably not want their 12- or 13-year-old daughter hanging around that guy (Zeatious the noun) in the above-described post, because he presents himself as a hyperactive sex fiend. However, if we look at the bigger picture, it's not mainly older men who are preying on adolescent girls (12 to 17 years old) but rather adolescent boys the same age as them who are doing so. It's middle-school boys and high-school boys here in my nation who are aggressively going on "teenie sex binges", as you call it, rather than adult men; and the United States of America has, therefore, become the deadbeat teen dad capital of the world. Not to mention, the criminal justice system here in my country disgracefully seems to go much lighter on underage adolescent boys for forcibly raping young girls between 12 and 17 years old than it does on adult men.

What do I think about the age-of-consent laws here in the land of milk and honey? They are probably more broken than anywhere else in the world. Stories are periodically coming out on the Internet about underage boys raping older women and then insisting that they themselves fell victims of "statutory rape." Back in 2008, a 13-year-old girl named Alisha Dean had a website in which she misrepresented herself as a 19-year-old divorcee so that she could fool adult men into going to bed with her and then get them into trouble with the authorities. I don't think that the United States of America will ever take the same direction that Turkey did and lower its statutory age of consent to 12 years old across the board as some Americans may fear. However, I do believe that someday there are going to be some serious reforms made in our nation's age-of-consent laws to prevent the miscarriages of justice that I just described to you from happening. I also find it interesting that nations that have lower ages of consent have been reported to have lower teen pregnancy rates than countries like the United States of America and the United Kingdom that have higher ages of consent.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm a real square; and if a 12- or 13-year-old niece of mine were to tell me that she planned on having sex with a man significantly older than her, I'd be spending hours and hours trying to talk her out of it. However, if a prosecutor were to charge her with contempt of court for refusing to testify against her older boyfriend in a carnal knowledge case, I'd be much more furious at the prosecutor than I would be at my niece's older boyfriend, because a juvenile detention center is not any place to where I would want any young girl to be needlessly sent. Especially now with all the horror stories about female MS-13 gang members raping and murdering these young girls behind bars. I'm sorry if this is not the reply you were looking for and I mean no disrespect, but I believe that there are more facets to this issue than many people care to realize. It is not a black-and-white issue, and our society should not delude itself into believing so.
