You could be denied of the social "benefits" of the government, at least. Blackmail or passport denial most likely.

Has anybody ever challenged this in court?
How can anybody deny a person a passport because of political opinions wtf. When this happens you need to call the ombudsman and if they can't help challenge this in court. Ofcourse many people quietly accept this and thereby contribute to this problem being able to exist and persist. On my mothers side I am from Trinidad and Tobago. We have many Venezuelans coming now. They come to buy food, to escape Venezuela, and some sadly are involved in serious crime but not the majority. Trinidad is a drugs transit country and because of this we have a big crime problem. When Venezuela has problems Trinidad feels it.
