Tanaecia lepidea

<Tanaecia lepidea, commonly known as the Grey Count, is frequently spotted in our garden. These butterflies have a stunning appearance, with dark brown and light grayish bands on the edges of their wings. Unlike many other butterflies that are constantly in flight, the Grey Count tends to be quite still. When they find a flower or a food source they enjoy, they remain motionless and focused.

We often eat tropical papaya, and I've noticed that they love to sit on the papaya peels and indulge in that food. As a result, we don't throw away our leftover papaya, mango, or oranges; instead, we save them for the butterflies. I'm not sure if they can see all colors, but I have observed that they seem to be drawn to bright orange.
