Repentance
REPENTANCE

Repentance is the basis, so to speak, of happiness in this life and in eternity, because if we do not repent and seek the ways of God as we should, we will never reach the presence of the heavenly Father. Repentance is much more than simply recognizing that one has done wrong, it is a change in the way of thinking, of living, acting and in the heart that provides a new perspective of God, of oneself and of the world; It means moving away from sin and turning to God in search of forgiveness.
Repentance motivates us to seek the love of God and the sincerity of fulfilling and obeying all of his commandments and doing things as ordered by the word, without trying to change what is written and do things half-way or fulfill as is or in you there is no genuine repentance. It is to depart definitively from the sin that bound it to the world.
Luke 15: 11-32
The return of the prodigal son
11 And he said, A man had two sons;
12 And the youngest of them said to his father: Father, give me the part of the property that belongs to me; and he divided the property between them.
13 And not a few days later, when the youngest son gathered all together, he went to a far country; and there he squandered his farm living in despair.
14 And when I misuse everything, a great famine came in that province, and began to be lacking.
15 And he went and came to one of the citizens of that land, who sent him to his farm to feed the pigs.
16 And he wanted to fill his belly with the carob tree that the pig ate; but nobody gave them to him.
17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's house have bread in abundance, and here I am dying of hunger!
18 I will rise up and go to my father, and I will say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you;
19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; Make me one of your hired men.
20 And rising up, he came to his father. And since he was still far away, his father saw him and was moved, and he ran and threw himself on his neck, and kissed him.
21 And the son said to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son.
22 But the father said to his servants, Get out the main tunic, and put it on; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet.
23 And bring the fatted calf, and sacrifice it, and let us eat, and let us make a feast.
24 For this was my dead son, and has been revived; He was lost, and he is found. And they began to rejoice.
25 And his eldest son was in the field; who, when approaching and approaching the house, listened to the symphony and the dances;
26 And calling one of the servants, he asked him what it was.
27 And he said to him, Your brother has come, and your father has killed the bull, because he has saved him.
28 Then he got angry, and did not want to go inside. His father left and begged him to come inside.
29 He answered and said to his father, Behold, I have served you so many years, without transgressing your commandment, and you have never given me a goat to rejoice with my friends.
30 But when your son came, who has consumed your property with harlots, you have killed for him the thick calf.
31 He said to him, "Son, you are always with me, and all my belongings are yours.
32 But it was necessary to make a feast and rejoice, for this was his dead brother, and it has been revived; He was lost, and he is found.
We have an example in the word of God and it is the parable of the prodigal son.
His arrogance for wanting to live an abundant and sinful life led him to ask his father for the inheritance that corresponded to him and went to despinarfar in the world and spend everything they gave him in things that were not of God.
Already seeing himself without anything, he regretted what his life was before living all that proof, and he remembered the days of abundance that his father had in his house.
The young man recognizes and repents and returns to his home, his father receives him with so much love that even his other brother had been doing it and obeying obediently to take care of his father's goods, this moves in an incorrect way full of jealousy .
The most beautiful thing about this story is that a father (God) does not look at what you have done or stopped doing, but you see that you looked for him and you regret your mistakes and have promised not to do it again. That is what repentance is about, seek God and separate yourself from what moves you away from him.
