International Conflicts and Tensions

Ukraine:

Gaza:

The humanitarian situation in Gaza is a critical issue. Israel has declared Gaza City a "combat zone" and ended "tactical pauses" for aid deliveries, which is expected to worsen the already severe famine. International organizations and human rights staff are raising alarms, with some UN human rights staff urging their leadership to declare the conflict a genocide. The remains of two Israeli hostages have also been returned as the offensive in Gaza City begins.

The US and China continue to be in a state of "great power competition," with economic and military friction over issues like trade, technology, and Taiwan.
