HELLO Future Steemit Millionaires!
I've lived in Washington State most of my life, growing up in Eastern Washington, and my adult years in the Puget Sound area of Western Washington. I am a Marketer, and was a Full Time Single Father for over 15 years; having raised 4 kids since they were 2 teenage girls, and a girl and boy that were both babies in diapers. I have done well as a Marketer, but I'm most proud of my accomplishments as a father. I use the word "proud" in the context that, for me, it would have been impossible to do either of these things well, without the help of the God who created me. I married the Lovely Lady above over 4 years ago.
As a single father I saw daily miracles that answered our deepest needs and questions. As a Marketer I saw success I could have never realized on my own.
I have been blessed with many accomplishments in life. A partial list is; Successful Inventor, (I have applied for, and received, my own Patents), wrote and Produced a Diet tape and Television spot to sell it, Active Volunteer...(Pregnancy Aid, Tacoma Community House...{teaching adult illiterates}, Feeding the Homeless, being a principle in launching several successful companies, and in 1994 I was asked to appear on the Oprah Winfrey Show...which I turned down....and she is probably rarely refused. I have always been a very private person, so it has taken me a long time to get around to taking this step, and putting up my own page.
I have also been fortunate to befriend some interesting and influential people, such as; Larry Williams, (the greatest Futures Trader of our day), Franklin Sanders, (a well-known Bullion Trader and Analyst), Paul Ewald, (a Research Scientist and author), and Dr. Ann DeWees Allen, (also a world famous Research Scientist, who once called me "brilliant."
I want to say that I think "who" a person is, their "identity" that is, begins at a deep level. A person's actions and behavior, and interactions with others in relationships, work environments, and life in general; are determined by the Principles by which they live. "Principles to live by," pre-determine actions and reactions to events and circumstances....and principles spring from a person's "Values," which are ultimately rooted in a person's morals....or lack of morals. Morals, the foundation of it all; are the primary result of knowing "who" we are.
When I was 25, I started working as a Tree Surgeon, climbing and removing dangerous trees in confined areas. I worked for myself as a Climber, off and on, for the next 16 years. When a man is introduced to someone, almost the first thing that person will ask you is; "so what do you do?" Many times they are just making conversation. But there are also many times that its because their "identity" is rooted in what they "do" for a job. If they lose that job...do they lose their identity too? Even at a young age, my answer was; "I'm a child of God, a husband, a father, a brother and a son.......and I cut trees for a living." Some would "get it" and smile and nod their head.
Once a person knows their identity; values and principles follow, that will aid in becoming the best of "who" they are. What this means is that my decisions, actions and reactions; will be governed by the goal of being the best child of God, that I can be. Also the best husband, father brother and son; that I can possibly be. It doesn't make life easier...but it does make the direction simpler to decide....but I promise I am far from perfect.
So that means that I have not done everything right, and always been the best child of God, husband, father brother or son. But it does mean that I have always tried hard to do exactly that. I also need to point out that a person who does not believe in God, can also be just as "self aware" about "who" they are. Husband, father, brother and son can apply to them also. As well as "citizen of the world...or community," and their identity also be a guiding influence that values and principles are based on, and motivates them to be the best of "who" they are. I refuse to be judgmental of anyone. Like the old saying states, "A man is only as good as his word," applies to all people...regardless of their Faith.
There have been defining events and influences that impacted my life at an early age. So I will share briefly about some of those things.
I didn't talk much as an infant, but have been making up for it ever since, lol; as people who know me can attest. At some point after two and a half, but before three years old; I just picked up books and started reading them. I developed a love of learning and reading that became a passion, that is still active today.
At around 5 years old I began selling a useful commodity. I picked wild Asparagus, and sold it door-to-door, and was cleaning up!! In a couple hours I could earn more than a grown man could earn in an entire day back then. It was clear to me then that when I have a High Quality Product that I acquired at the right price, (in the case of my Asparagus...it was FREE), I could then price it so well on the selling end...that I could sell it to almost anybody and still profit.
This simple but powerful principle was explained in more detail to me when I was 9 years old; and was then confirmed again and again by experience throughout my life. One of my Uncles, who was a notorious buyer, seller and trader, had come to visit.......and we were talking about, what else.... but buying and selling?
He told me that "you make your profit when you buy....not when you sell." I asked, "What are you talking about? You don't get your money back till you sell?" He answered, "Most people have it wrong. They all think that if they can find the right prospect, made the right pitch, maybe fix the item up a bit....they can make a profit."
My Uncle continued, "You make the profit when you buy; because if you buy right, (at the right price), you can sell to anyone for a profit." I went on to use this simple truth effectively for the rest of my life. At 14 I was buying and selling monster Cab-Over Dump Trucks, Motorcycles and Cars. Around 19 I added Real Estate and Boats.
Since I already said a bit about being a full time single father, (and boy oh boy...talk about discrimination I experienced in THAT role).
I think it is appropriate to say that I got married again almost nine years ago. (yes, you can probably do the math and realize that I am older than dirt).
I am very happy with my wife who is the first woman I ever formally asked to marry me, and she is currently 28 years old, soon to be 29 this December. I know that sounds crazy, for either her...or me, depending on your opinion. Because opinions you know, are like...well; everybody has one....at the very least. But it works for us, very well in fact.
I take every opportunity to say, "I love my wife very much." And may I please add that, "I am sooo IN love with my wife; that words alone cannot express adequately."
I do believe that there is a difference between loving her and being in love with her; but mostly in the day to day actions that she sees from me. Thank you for reading a little about me.
