Introduce Myself - TheJeeSpot

A big hello to everyone on Steemit planet, certainly thrilled to be here.

Most people call me Jee, while my stage name goes by JeeSpot (just as how you say it, mm-hmm). I heard about Steemit from my sister not long ago, and thought it would be a great blogging platform to share my music passion with the world. I come from a diverse country called Malaysia, and from what I've heard, there's a good number of awesome Malaysian peeps here as what I understand, hence shout out to all the lovely Malaysians!

I was born with the love and passion for music. My dad would always tell me how I shamelessly ran up to stages whenever I saw one, and started singing or dancing along with the performers. Cut the long growing-up-story short, I played in friendly gigs on and off, with a suppressed desire to pursue music as my dream career. Suppressed because, in Malaysia, pursuing a career in the entertainment business was an uncommon thing to do. So many people around me told me how hard it would be, and music would not be practical to pursue. In short, I received more oppositions than encouragements (you can imagine how horrible it felt). At the age of 18, a close mentor of mine persuaded me to choose a major that would provide job security, so I decided to turn away from applying to a music college in the States, and opted for a biotechnology major instead, leading me to a 5 year journey in the corporate world. Thankfully I did well in my corporate career, but something was always missing.

For 5 whole years I was never truly happy, and one day I asked myself - If I were to leave this planet Earth tomorrow, would I be proud that I lived a life that gained the approval of people? Or would I regret not pursuing the life I truly want?The next day I threw in my resignation letter, and soon after walked away from a loved one who was heading to a completely opposite path. It was a terribly painful transition, but I was fixated on my dream. I fought really, really hard ,for what I believed in. I swear, I worked my ass off.

Music is my life

4 years of tough work, sweat, tears and blood (like real blood) later, I'm now living my dream career as a singer-songwriter musician, emcee and voice artist. I have had great privileges to perform for and alongside with local big names, big corporate events and on TV shows. I constantly look for new ways to expand my portfolio, and just recently, I started my own live streaming show on VOOV (do look up for @jeespot if you would like to say hi!).

It has been a journey filled with ups and downs, and I may still have a long road ahead. But I will always be thankful for the brave decision I made on that day 4 years ago, else I would not be living for what I love today. I took the road less taken, and will never ever look back. If there is one thing I wish you could take away from my life story, it would be this - to do what you love, and live your dreams. Shut off all the naysayers, fight really hard and prove them wrong. If I can do it, so can you.

With all that said, I truly hope you will enjoy the content and music that I produce.
