Hello Steemit and Goodbye Facebook
Hi everyone!
My name is Jack Rock and I'm an English teacher from Ireland. I've been using Facebook for about 6 years. I've now got 5,000 Facebook friends and 4,200 followers. You can check out my profile here www.facebook.com/jackrockteacher
I'm so excited about the social networking side of Steem. Facebook doesn’t really allow for video monetisation, nor post monetisation. What Steemit offers is very exciting. A social networking site and community that gives back to its users, can it be for real?! Well, I and many other users believe so.
Earning money isn’t everything in life, but if you want to work online full time, it’s very important.
While living and teaching in Vietnam, I made some Facebook videos that were quite popular and viral. One video of me speaking in Vietnamese has 28,000 views and has been shared 221 times, another video of me singing in Vietnamese has 26,000 views and has been shared 167 times. I didn’t make a single penny or cent from these videos. I wonder how much money Facebook has made from my years using their site?
I also have a YouTube channel with almost 14,000 combined views, yet I’ve hardly made even $1 from YouTube’s AdSense program.
I hope to post interesting content here and get to know the community.
It’s a pleasure to meet you all.
Goodbye Facebook and hello Steemit.
Full Steem ahead! :)
Welcome to Steem @positivespirit I have upvoted and sent you a tip
Thanks a lot, nice to meet you :)
Welcome to the team, friend. I'm studying to teach chemistry and physics, and after college, I plan on teaching abroad. I'm excited to see a similar soul here, and I truly believe you will have great success with your ideas here! Have my FOLLOW! I hope you can check out my page.. you might find something you like. (: happy steeming.
I think you could make a great career teaching those subjects in international schools abroad. Nice to meet you :)
Is that actually not too crazy of an idea? For instance, teaching here in the United States is barely enough to make ends meet.
I've been working in Vietnam for the last 2 years teaching ESL. If you're a qualified teacher and not just an ESL teacher, you'll make even more money. In Vietnam you could earn up to $3000 per month with your own apartment included. In the Middle East you could earn double that.
Ok that's exciting.
Hi Jack welcome to Steemit It is great that the content makers can share in the success, and why not!! Facebook , Instagram, Youtube etc need to take note, as steemit will continue to grow, because it is unique! It is a great opportunity for us to be rewarded, not just the company, and I'm sure more people will start to use it instead
Hey Floata, very well said. I wonder if FB and instagram etc will take note.
try and steal the idea some how or buy steemit lol

Welcome, brother! I just got on steemit too - makes so much sense for getting fair value for your content. The future of social media.
I taught English in Thailand for a year. Teaching in SE Asia is a trip, huh?
Upvoted and followed! Looking forward to following your journey.
Hey mate, cheers. Vietnamese people are amazing and teaching them was a pleasure. I would have gone to Thailand, but the salaries seem lower there. I'm thinking of going to China now. I'll check your posts out now, peace! :D
