Entry 1: The A-Ba-Ka-Da
Ancient script (Sinaunang kasulatan)
If you are not familiar with the text above, you might be wondering, is this written in Thai? Maybe Tibetan script? Or Gujarati text? Perhaps an Old Church Slavonic script?
Well, it is actually Baybayin.
This script is an ancient writing during the pre-colonial period inf the Philippines. Baybayin comes from the root word "baybay" which means "to spell".
In my opinion, this is somewhat similar to the Japanese writings where the alphabets are in syllables, and not usually come in a single letter.
However, it came to an end when the Philippines was under the colony of the Spaniards, who introduced a new language.
Short introduction (Maikling pagpapakilala)
This account is created to serve one purpose:
To let the Philippines and everything about and in it — culture and beliefs, among others — be known globally.
The Philippines is a great country and has a lot to be proud of. If you are a Filipino, a Filipino at heart or if you are just curious about the Philippines, I will be sharing educational posts showcasing what you may not know or what you want to know about the Philippines. I will even teach you basic (or advanced, I will challenge myself!!!) Filipino language and traditions.
It's good to know that there are other people at @steemit who promote the Philippines and Filipino content creators such as @bayanihan and @steemnest. More power, kababayan! Let us lift everyone up!
So, fasten your seatbelt because this is going to be a long journey with me. Let us start with the basic — basic as abakada, or in English, abcd.
