This Is My "Introduce Myself" Video Blog Post for Steemit

Hi Steemit! This is my very first "Introduce Myself" Post...

I want to thank Steemit in advance for motivating me to make a video. I think I'll probably make some more ; )

I INCLUDED THE TRANSCRIPT PLUS SOME OTHER LITTLE BITS BELOW

BEGIN:

"So I live in Japan here with my family and I'm an aspiring social innovation person (social entrepreneur). I have been in Japan for six years and I find myself here on Steemit today thanks to the time I have spent in Japan.

As many of us do, I am involved in quite a few things online. Most of last year I was providing marketing services for solar installers but this year I want to make progress toward my bigger goal, which is to build a web app that produces social and environmental good. I'm looking to meet like-minded others to exchange value as far as that goes.

Casual Pleasures

Some things I'm into... I love nature. I kind of watch nature for little changes. I'm maybe hyper-conscious about that. I love to bike and to walk and to create and discover things. I would live in the countryside if I didn't have to drive. I prefer human-powered locomotion and so far, I've anchored myself to cities to make cars less a part of my world. When I do buy another car it will probably be a Tesla : )

I am fascinated with digital products and I find a correlation with music, sound waves and digital products are all ephemeral and I love that. Any Tokyo amateur musicians about??

What Else...

I mean I love renewable energy, I don't know if you can see the solar over there. I'm not sure if you can see that. And then we have solar on our house.

And I just think anything that we do at this point in time, particularly if we are in business for ourselves or as a nonprofit, that we can design into our business systems things that will output a positive, either social or environmental change or effect.

Why???

  1. Because it's fun
  2. It's something that any business can do
  3. There's like everything to gain and nothing to lose from it

There's no reason not to do it (it is social enterprise) and there's a lot of reasons to do it and business is one of the least regulated and most flexible, versatile means to do that, so I'm interested in meeting other people and being involved in that conversation.

Having Fun With An Unpolished Video Transcript

And what else? I don't know. I like traveling, I like hiking.

So I think the most important thing for me on social media is promoting social entrepreneurship and social innovation.

The world needs regular people to contribute to social innovation, not just unicorns, and heroes.

So I'm happy to be here, and uh...

I'm just one guy, kind of out here afloat in a country far away from a lot of things so... bye bye."

Hope you find it interesting here.

So far so good Krisosa! How long have you been on the platform?

I'm really hoping we can do something different with this one. Blockchain will help and people like us, real people will do the rest to make this platform awesome.

I would love to live in Japan, it is a country full of history and culture. You are really lucky.

There's levels to this living in Japan thing : ) The layers of the onion are many, and similar.

Hello andy.cline! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. Here are 5 essential tips that will help facilitate your onboarding process:

  1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of the 4 passwords and make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
  2. Get Steem rewards: You have the option to choose how to receive your post reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this will change over time. Check our post for more details.
  3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
  4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Converting and powering up more Steem into Steem Power will enable you to have higher value on upvotes.
  5. Have Fun and Enjoy!

For a detailed writeup, check our post Getting Started: 5 Essential Tips for New Users.

Hi @andy.cline welcome to steemit, i hope you enjoy here, have fun. Don't get tired writing an article. You got an upvote from me :)

Thanks, Vinzie1 for the upvote. Did I seem like I was getting tired?? Oh no!

More like lazy... kind of intentionally lazy. I think part of my angle here is to take my marketer britches off and just try to be authentic, and you know, hey, I'm kind of casual, to be honest!

This comment has received a 0.36 % upvote from @speedvoter thanks to: @vinzie1.

Welcome to Steemit man! Great introduction. Where in Japan are you located? I look forward to seeing more about your social entrepreneur posts! Check out some great communities here to meet others:

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm in north Yokohama, about 45/50 minutes from Shibuya. Are you in Japan too? We have a little garden oasis around our house, a rare commodity in an ocean of concrete.

Generally speaking, I feel pretty optimistic that Steemit could be a great platform to be a real person on. I will check out those communities as a starting point. Cheers!

I am not in Japan. USA rather. I enjoy following and getting to know people all across the world and I will research Yokohama! I'm glad you are able to find nature in your area! I love exploring and being connected to nature. Those communities are a great starting point! If you have a chance head over to their respective discord channels.

I'll keep following your adventures!

Welcome Andy! Warm greetings from the neighborhood (we're in Bangkok). Just passed through Narita on my way home yesterday but haven't made the time yet to visit Japan although I've been in the region for five years. @suitcasemama and I were just talking about it though - we hope to get over there soon!

Wishing you all the best as you start your journey here on Steemit!

Hey starthere! I flew into Haneda yesterday, one airport away from crossing paths. How long have you been in Bangkok?

Follow if you'd like and I'll do the same. I'm feeling pretty optimistic about all the people in Asia who I'm finding on here.

I've been in BKK since 2013 joined by @suitcasemama in 2015. We're just back from the States, jetlagged but happy to be home!

Already following you brotha :) And yep, tons of Asians, especially Filipinos and Indonesians, some Thai, although I'm not seeing many Japanese (you'll have to work on that from there!).

Maybe I will go to Japan someday and want to but was in Vietnam teaching English for 5 years and that was great. Thanks for sharing, hehe. I'm Oatmeal Joey Arnold. You can call me Joey.

Hey Joey, nice to put a name to a profile pic. Keep chugging away at your posts, you're prolific with the original content!

Haha thanks. Great. Always.

Hello @andy.cline, and good luck for you on Steemit.

thanks mmo-mmo 👍
