My story and my goal to integrate blockchain and Radiology (healthcare)
Hello all,
My name is Maarten and I am very excited to join the Steemit community! I am a recent MD/MBA graduate and will be completing a Diagnostic Radiology residency. I was introduced to bitcoin in 2012 and pursued mining and trading cryptocurrency to help pay for school and living costs.
Although I started mining/trading to make money, I have become fascinated with the blockchain and how it is changing the world. I am eager to integrate blockchain technology with my Radiology career. Following residency, I plan to complete a fellowship in informatics.
I believe that Radiology (and healthcare in general) would be a perfect fit for the blockchain due to the need for sharing and securing patient data. Medicine is flush with raw data (especially with EMRs); however, we don't do a great job of using this data to improve our medical and administrative decision making. Hopefully, the blockchain can help.
As a member of the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine, I know there are efforts to make this a reality. I am posting here because I want to gain more knowledge about the blockchain and its applications, specifically in healthcare. In addition, I would love to help facilitate the integration of the blockchain and Radiology.
It would be great to hear from the community about resources and opportunities to learn more about blockchain technologies. I look forward to being a part of the Steemit community!
