First Dtube Devotional - In the beginning God - Genesis 1:1-5
Today’s passage:
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.

Each life is made up of mistakes and learning, waiting and growing, practicing patience and being persistent. Billy Graham

Wow amazing! Thank you for that encouragement!
"and darkness was on the face of the deep"
Phew...Pretty ominous thinking about the world before it had a form. Do you ever stop to think about what that would look like?
Cannot even begin to fathom. Lol - my personal opinion is that it’s almost like a black hole or just this vacuum of nothingness. Cannot even begin to image what “nothing” is being none of us have ever experienced it. Pretty amazing what we discover as time goes on though.
Thank you for sharing. The opening chapters of the book of Genesis did so much for me when reading them for the first time.
Hey @timothyb thank you! Please share your insights when you first read Genesis?
Although my parents took me to church almost every Sunday for the first 13 years of my life, I didn't know God apart from his connection with Jesus. At the same time, I was educated in a public school, and had a brief exposure to evolutionary thought. As I was entering my 20's, I felt a need to know the origin of human history. Because I had read some of the Bible as a child (Isaiah-Matthew), I felt it deserved a more thorough investigation. Upon reading the first 2 chapters of Genesis, and seeing just how involved God was in the origin of man, and his home, I experienced the same connection with Him that Jesus had...our Father.
Wow! That is totally cool @timothyb !! And your name is after one of the great early leaders and evangelist. The protege of the apostle Paul. I have a very similar experience. I was borderline atheist leaning towards universalism and I thought "What I'll do is just read the entire Bible and investigate for myself." It changed my life. Complete 180
