Introducing Eblison Grun
Hi, I'm Eblison. I just learned about Steemit from a friend who is fairly new here as well. I live on California's north coast where I write and work in one of the coolest bookstores ever. I've been involved in radio, film, comics, and am currently living the dream in Mendocino. I'm working on that "Great American Novel" and writing reviews for all the arts I love.
Eblison is a name I've gone by publicly and privately, but it is an alias. To some who know me, I'm also Rob Hawthorn. I've got a gorgeous family who also enjoy writing and the arts.
Wait... what? What do I write? I'm a huge horror fan. Clive Barker, Stephen King, Joe Hill... just to name the most mainstream authors I enjoy. So my writing tends to be dark and mystical. I like to twist and tear common everyday events into something horrific and nightmarish. Years ago, I though being gory was what horror was about. Honestly, it's about being able to create tension, unease, discomfort, and then nervousness in the reader. If you can scare someone without being disgusting... you really know your stuff. I try to know my stuff. I'm still learning. But I think I'm nailing it down. Every good author has said that to be a good writer, you need to be a good reader. And that is where skill continues to grow. I keep learning because I keep reading. So I also write fantasy. It's taking that everyday event and tossing things like goblins into the mix. Or like the guy who works at the local Apple store secretly being half demon. My writing partner, also my wife, and I also write erotica. We take all of the elements we enjoy in our other works: horror, fantasy, historical fiction, and come up with something fun and kinky.
Anyway, this site is something I'm hoping to work hard on. I'll be posting book reviews, comic reviews, maybe even interviews I conduct with authors. I'm hoping you follow me and like it and I'll be happy to follow in return. Cheers!
