I would suggest you be a little more open. Most people will not upvote without at least a little knowledge about you. Think of it as you share knowledge about yourself or things you are interested in. You readers then share upvotes to reward you for the effort you put into your post. Simple posts with no effort put into them, rarely get many upvotes.
