Hello. It's Tara! I'm bringing GIRLPOWER to Steem!

Tara here... I LOVE STEEM!! People are right to assume the techy-ness of most content on here somewhat deters the female audience. I want to enhance STEEM by adding the girly content that we are missing!

I think when girls see topics that they are actually interested in, it will feel more inviting for us. I am going to create posts that will attract women and expand our user base. And increasing the amount of ladies on Steem will ultimately bring in more money for all users!

Something is lacking on this site that women (and some men) love to talk about... BEAUTY! With this goal in mind, I am starting the BEAUTY category on Steem. Makeup tutorials and beauty related posts will attract more women than any other category. These tutorials are always trending on Youtube and bring in millions of viewers that are nearly 100% female.

I know Steem will be so much more lucrative than Youtube for ladies like me who want to spread their ideas and share their beauty techniques. I'm ditching my Youtube aspirations and going with Steem instead! I'm so happy to find this site and realize it's the far better option as an entrepreneurial platform. I can't wait to spread the word to my friends and fellow bloggers!

Yours Truly, Tara.

Would you mind posting a photo of yourself with a sign that says "Steemit with the current date"? Lots of fraudsters on here and we want to make sure we're supporting real users. Thank you.

Awesome! Welcome to Steemit!

That's awesome, welcome to Steemit! I look forward to read your contributions :)

You just wanted a selfie! Don't lie! :p

Someday we will have to make a "selfie tag" to see each other all !!!

OMG - I read the first part of your reply and was like okay, creepy dude asking for a pic of a pretty girl. But hey, I'm new. LOL Glad to see real people supporting and commenting. It's REFRESHING. Have a great weekend.

Hey Tara, great post! I've also written my introduction, would you like to read it?

https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@roelandp/hello-it-s-roeland-i-m-bringing-boypower-to-steem

I see there are some shared similarities between us, after all women & men are not that different I guess! :D

Hey @berniesanders I am not a fan of selfies ! How can I be verified ...and I wonder why this is so important . I put more than enough pictures on one of my posts . Thanks much for the info

Great idea!

vomits

Don't want to take anything away from you and you deserve as much of a warm welcome as anybody else, but I'm disgusted by the fact that since you're a beautiful women, your introduction post deserves upwards of a thousand dollars. This probably convinced me to never post anything on steemit ever again. What is this, Facebook?

Anyways, good luck!

Awe I'm sorry you feel that way. I think you have misjudged the reason for the success of the post though! There are plenty of girls on Steemit and many of them are more attractive than I am. I think the reason this post is so successful is that I have identified a powerful idea to expand the user base of Steemit and help us grow as fast as possible. Fashion and beauty blogs are extremely popular on other social media networks. The more users on Steemit gives ALL OF US the opportunity to gain!
I have been planning and preparing all day to make my first tutorial perfect. So much of what is earned from my posts will be reinvested back into making mine and Steem's ambition a reality. I wish you the best of luck on here and I encourage you to post! I'll be sure to check them out.

I wouldn't give this comment another second of thought. Your post deserved every penny it got. If anyone wasn't going to upvote your post it was me. But you made great points and you turned me around. The commenter is actually the one who is making faulty conclusions based solely on gender and physical appearance. Just because you look pretty and are a woman doesn't mean your post doesn't have a ton of value. I believe it does and my history of creating valuable content for this platform is proof that I know a little bit what I am talking about. The reward seems exactly fair to me. In addition, if you got a little extra because you're pretty, frankly I'm fine with that too. If anyone wants to start a social network where no one is allowed to profit off of their physical appearance they're more than welcome to. I will never use it. Not only because this is an arbitrary determination of what is and isn't "ok" to make money off of (and that always causes problems) but also because it won't have any beautiful people! Grow up commenter. The world isn't fair. Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses. Find your strengths instead of castigating others for what you believe to be their unfair advantages.

yet i do a post about substance abuse, and made (which was HUGE compared to all my other 'shitposts' 8 fucking dollars

oc has a point ... if there WASNT a pic of a hot chick, this post would have gotten the USUAL $100 TOPS...

and THEN was gone within a year
lets be real ... it got the vote, because they have thousands of yt followers, and all ya'll richies saw that as your chance to get noticed
now, i realise a comment like this will likely put me on some blacklists, but, at the end of the day, after 5 years on here, and a TOTAL author reward of 300 steem . . . whats the worst that could happen? someone takes away the 4c i get from posting?

rich get richer, and those of us that rely on foodstamps, always will, because they cant get 'out of the rut' that got them here in the first place.

i also get that noone is 'entitled' to votes / money

but the majority of whales vote for the same circle of people, every time... how is a 'fresh user' meant to STAY on the platform, when, on signup, they can post once a week ( and then wait for the RC to regen
i get there were some that were gaming the system in the old days of steemdelegations, but...
yeah ...
if i want to create content, on chain, i have to join an exchange, buy coins, send them here, power em up...
JUST to engage.

anyways, sorry, its a me thing, not a you thing.
im hangry.
i live off soup kitchen lunch and dinner 5 days a week ... i should be 'noticed' by now imo

You are either being naive or just trying to play it off. The reason your post got 1200$ worth of upvote is because you are a woman, and an attractive woman. There wasn't much to your message. Please get real. I'm not going to comment further because there is no hatred here, I don't know you and I don't think you are trying to profit off of your image, I'm just stating the obvious. It bothers me because I thought this community was about quality content, not about giving handouts to cute chicks. I cringe anytime I see women post crap and get upvoted to heaven because they post a cute selfie at the top of their story. My two cents. Good luck on Steemit.

@guillaume, I suppose we are cut from the same fabric, because I too, had the same knee jerk reaction. I have nothing against more women in here and in fact, people have told me that they think I was mainly responsible for bringing on a lot of women, but there's something gross about thinking that all women are interested in make up. I for one, rarely even use make up. I use face paints occasionally which I think comes under the category of "clown" make up..........My mom was a Mary Kay beauty consultant when I was a kid, and I believe this is why when anyone brings up the topic of make up, I feel a certain low-level yellowish onslaught of bile creep out from my interior. Let's face it, it's boring.

But, I admire anyone who is an entrepreneur and sees an opportunity so I encourage you to do your stuff and seize your destiny.
The only time I really wear any sort of normal make up is when I have to out to get a job or I want to impress a potential mate.
I don't wish any ill will, but I don't want to sugar-coat

Thank you for your thoughts. I would like to highlight the real focus of my post. It's not only about "make-up", that's just the vehicle. It's about expanding the user base and tapping into a vast audience that may possibly overlook Steemit. There are millions of women who view make-up tutorials on Youtube, the audience is enormous. Adding that missing content on here and inviting that audience will help EVERYONE on Steemit, even people who don't positively view this content. I hope everyone realizes this.
We are actually more alike than you think. For years I used to not wear make-up at all. When I ultimately ventured into this world, I found I was very talented and passionate about it. Congratulations on your success on Steemit!

Awesome response. Nailed it.

The only thing I have to disagree with you about is this: there are lots of women in technology fields and although the crypto world is male-dominated, I think plenty of women are about to embrace it in a big way. Imogen Heap is one famous example of that.

Yea, shes obviously not cut from the same cookie as you ;)

"I think plenty of women are about to embrace it in a big way."
I agree. And what would speed up this process? Would adding this new content I mentioned, that attracts millions of female viewers, speed up or slow down the rate of women becoming users of Steemit? Once they become users of Steemit, they will have to learn about blockchain technology automatically when it comes time to understand and interact with their wallet for instance.
I am one of those women. I have been dabbling in cryptocurrencies off and on for nearly two years now and working on other blockchain related projects.

Your tits are fabulous

Welcome! It's always nice seeing more women join our STEEM party!!
It may be a good idea and post YouTube links to vids you've done. This way women know you're the real deal, plus it'll earn you more STEEM :)

Imagine now she posted it before 4 July pay-day...
She would have reached $4000-$5000 with the current votes !!!

PS I am sure some of you feel better now :)

welcome to @guerrint

I've been working in hi-tech since 1995, UNIX sys admin, former network engineer, I'm a trained audio engineer, an electronic musician, the list goes on. I also love playing with different makeup looks & talking about it with my audience .

The two are not mutually exclusive. I look forward to seeing what your makeup tips are.

I totally agree and I hope my post didn't seem like they are exclusive! My goal is to attract the millions of viewers that visit Youtube who want videos that contain purely beauty/makeup subject matter. So that is where my focus is. These viewers may also be rocket scientists for a living but their intention of visiting this category in that moment is to learn just about beauty. Congrats on that resume btw! Thank you for your support and I hope you like my future posts!

Hi Tara, great to have you here. Bring on the the ladies' talk!
