Greetings from an opensource developer
I am not much of a writer nor a socialiser (online or offline). And I hesitated to sign up on steemit when it asked for a phone number. As a privacy loving individual my instant reaction was to close the tab. However, I had second thoughts and looked around steemit a bit more. I liked the vibe around here and the attention to detail from the developers. And so, here I am.
Hello Steemit!
I am a software developer, based in India. I have been developing software for a long time now (perhaps 20 years if I count my kido hobby projects). I am hrj on github and you can find almost all my projects there.
In my free time, I like to play the piano. Even after years of practice, I am not very good at it. But, heck, I still love to play it for my own satisfaction. I am learning to strum the guitar too, and loving it.
I also love trekking and travelling. This one I can say I am really good at. On many occassions, I have been into deep forests, lost the way, lost tent and gear, survived without food and water, and made it back.
Reading was a favourite hobby, but haven't had much time to do that lately. I did read GoT this year and loved it!
I will try to post regularly here. Winding up with a quick list of the projects that I have been developing:
gngr
A browser that champions privacy. Unlike many such projects which wrap firefox or chromium engines, gngr has its own layouting and rendering engine, and built grounds up to be secure and privacy focussed.
FLIF (Free and Lossless Image Format)
Free as in Freedom. I didn't design the format, but I am one of the code contributors and suggest improvements to the format occassionally.
abandon
A text-based accounting system.
Welcome to steemit, brother! Use this as an outlet to discover more of you. Wish you well!
Thanks!
That's a great way of putting it.
Welcome to the community. Creativity is contagious... pass it along. - Albert Einstein
Welcome to Steemit. I am glad you got past the verification! I'm sure many do not! Let us know if you need any help!
Thanks for reading @simgirl!
I can see how phone-number verification reduces spam and dilution of the network. In the future, once it becomes easy to buy steem, I intend to use an anonymous account. So it's all good. cheers!
Edit: Just curious: What's your involvement with steemit?
I have been here since September. I write a blog called How-to Play the Sims, where I show how to play the game, and I also enter a lot of contests here. If you plan on being here a while, you may want to check out the Minnow Support Project to learn more about Steemit, and what you can do here. If you click the link you'll be taken to our discord channel.
