We are the Ladies of Steemit.

The Ladies of Steemit curation initiative exists to showcase the diversity of unique voices that females and femme-identifying individuals bring to the blockchain.

Each week, we curate 3 - 5 exemplary posts based on a theme or specific medium of expression and highlight the authors of each post. We share an image and excerpt from the featured posts, write a short paragraph bio highlighting the strengths and Steemit-impact of the author, and provide a photo and link to the author's initial introductory post.

Come post-payout time, SBD-earnings from each Ladies of Steemit curation are shared with the featured authors.

Each post continues to grow in value, allowing us to elevate the value of the featured authors' posts through increased exposure and external earnings.

Throughout the week, we follow, resteem, upvote, and comment on recent posts made by​ the ladies of Steemit in any and all categories. No subject-matter is off-limits, save for discriminatory content aimed at any person or group of people. We are non-religious, intersectional, apolitical, and open-minded. Our aim is to promote and support the female voices sharing their stories, crafting quality content, and investing in the future of the Steemit universe.

Beyond our hands-on curation efforts, the Ladies of Steemit initiative has plans for the future.

Women Are World News

Every day, women across the globe are impacted by developments in women's rights, societal opinions on gender and sexuality, cultural and religious proclamation, and in industry-specific decision-making. Collecting reputable news articles and sources for the greater spread of information on Steemit is our first expansion to the Ladies of Steemit initiative.

Our goal is to share a monthly digest of important news impacting females worldwide. The first Women in World News post can be viewed here.

We're collecting articles​ on Business + Industry, Arts & Entertainment (including Sports), Politics, Culture & Society, and Health + Hygiene.

Engagement Support for Existing Female-Oriented Communities

The Ladies of Steemit initiative has no interest in opening their own Discord channel or community meeting place with regards to Steemit. Instead, we stand to serve the existing female-oriented communities. The two with which we are familiar are Steem Sugars and TeamGirlPowa, the latter aimed more directly and the strengthening of feminism​ and gender-equality awareness on the blockcahin.

We regularly surf the #SteemSugars and #TeamGirlPowa tags as well as the post-promo channels within various Discord channels for curate-able content. The larger we can grow the influence of the Ladies of Steemit account, the more we can support the vibrant female communities that exist and will come into existence on the blockchain.

We've given more than 30 SBD back to our curated authors. And, we've barely scratched the surface of the female community on Steemit.

Delegating Steem Power is a big deal. We know that if you have extra, you could likely make money from it or use it to super-charge your votes. We also know that when you're new (like us), Steem Power isn't easy to build up. A bit about the lady behind Ladies of Steemit:

Hi, I'm Amelia! I'm a writer and discoverer living in the mountains of East Tennessee.

Ladies of Steemit evolved naturally from my commitment to elevating women. Through my work with women and girls via Mahila Partnership (501c3), my interview series titled Women Taking Leaps, and my work with female business owners to develop organizations that sustain them, I found that my purpose is to support, showcase, and uplift the female community.

But, what about the guys?

After the launch of the first-ever Laddies of Steemit, it's clear that the male community does a tremendous service to the women on the blockchain. Highlighting male efforts to support women, instill female leadership, weigh-in on gender discussions and social awareness, and their contributions to the equality of this platform are​ just as important as showcasing female voices.

No less than quarterly, we will proudly curate male authors and their exemplary posts, strengthening the bonds we rely on between the female community and its male allies.
