I think steem will only be as successful as the steemit platform and this leaves it as a large unknown. if the steemit platform grows and thrives, so might the currency. I think this is both exiting and worrying. What are some of your thoughts?

You make a good point, but from a technical perspective, this technology is (IMO) superior than many other cryptocurrencies out there. It has a built in savings system, account recovery system, 3 second block times, 10k transactions a second capacity (which will only get better based on the latest roadmap), no transaction fees, delegated proof of stake mining system which prevents wasted energy use... it just seems fantastic to me.

But then again, Beta Max was technically superior to VHS, from what I hear, and it still lost. It takes more than tech to succeed.

With busy.org and other front ends to the blockchain, I think steemit.com will be one of many in the future.

We'll see though. There's still a lot of centralized currency ownership right now. Time will tell. I'm willing to give it a few years to see what happens.

I agree. time reveals all when it comes down to the success of any cryptocurrency
