Hello Steemit World

I recently found out about Steemit. I've never really put myself out in the public eye. Sure, I've done the Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram things, but I keep postings to my group of family and friends. My reason for keeping posts private? I'm thinking that "I can't possibly have anything going on in my life that could be interesting for a complete stranger to follow." So, do I have anything worth public consumption? I figured the Steemit platform was an excellent place to give it a shot and really try to express myself. Hopefully, on this journey, I'll gain some followers, maybe some friends, and of course earning a little cash wouldn't hurt.

That's me being all outdoorsy. This picture was taken on my most recent trip to Quetico, in Canada. Topics like this should show up on my blog on a semi-regular basis. I really love being up in the middle of nowhere drinking the water out of the lakes and relying on our catch for most of our food.

Hunting is another of my outdoor passions. I don't always get to spend as much time hunting as I'd like, but the time I do get is really enjoyable.

A couple other of my interests are travel, and photography. This particular image was only taken on a waterproof Nikon camera, but I own a Canon 6d that I enjoy using and learning to use better. Just getting the time to get out and take pictures of the mundane is enjoyable for me simply because I feel I become more proficient with each click of the shutter. Oh, that picture was also taken on our most recent trip to Eleuthera in the Bahamas. A beautiful island that I would love to go into more detail in a separate post.

I love my dogs and all of the animals we have on our little hobby farm. I look forward to posting about our chickens, ducks, turkeys, peafowl, goats, and emus. Yes, you heard me right, we have a breeding pair of emus that we share our land with.

A farm with prey type animals, sadly, attracts predators. Great photo opportunity, but predators can take a toll on what we're trying to accomplish.

I work as a web communications specialist for The Ohio State University's Lima campus. I love to live and work on our hobby farm. I love to be outdoors. I enjoy working on and riding ATVs. I very much so love my family and the life that God has blessed me with.

I hope that I can stick with this and bring a little piece of my world to anyone willing to listen.

Thanks for reading, and I will be bringing you more content soon. And since this is my last working day of 2017, have a very Happy New Years, and I wish you luck in 2018.

Mike

Glad you joined Mike - Welcome. New here myself but the community is pretty cool thus far. Looks like you have some serious outdoor experience, which is great. Have a prosperous new year in Steem!

Thank you. I love the outdoors and I'm always looking to gain more experience.

Hey Mike,
Great intro post my brother.
Good to hear about a few personal stuff and about your lifestyle.
P.S I know, it might feel weird when Indian comments on a post, can't blame the internet. The online presence of the Indians is pretty bad. lol
see you around.
peace

Thanks for the compliment. I've met a few Indians through various jobs I've held, always good people.
