Mini-tour of my city!

Hello! I told you about myself in the last post. Now, I want to tell about my city. My city is Magnitogorsk.


This is city of metallurgists, because a lot of people working in the factory MMK and our city exists at the expense for factory. We have air pollution from factory. It's a sad, but it's a fact! But...all the same nature is magical here!


Magnitogorsk is second city of size in Chelyabinsk Oblast. City is near the mount «Magnetic».


Residents call it affectionately – «Magnitka». The city has got two coasts - left and right. I live in right coast.

The Ural is the geographical border between Asia and Europe. So, living in Magnitogorsk, can regularly travel from one part of the world to another. Pointers «Europe – Asia» is located in the center of each of the bridges. Under it is often possible to detect the photographing guests of the city.


I can write about sights of city very much, although it isn't the biggest the city. Let's I tell about basic sights. Let's start!
One of the main symbols of the city is monument «Tent of the first builders of Magnitogorsk». It was opened on 9 may 1966. The monument depicts a tent in which lived the first builders of the plant and the city. Height – 3.4 meters. On the base of the monument you can read the verse of the poet Boris Ruchiev. One of the streets called his name and he also took part in the construction of Magnitogorsk. There's also hand holding in the palm of a piece of iron ore mountains «Magnetic» near the tent. This is the only object of Magnitogorsk, having the status of a monument of architecture of Federal significance.

The monument «Metallurg» also has got very interesting history. At first, this sculpture was called «Worker», it was created in 1958 for the world exhibition in Brussels as part of the exhibition «Worker and collective farm girl». Then she continued her journey around the world and in the following year was exhibited at the exhibition in New York, and in 1960 he decorated the facade of the Soviet pavilion at the international exhibition in Austria in Vienna. In 1963 it was installed in Moscow at ENEA. After, the sculpture was transferred to MMK. At first it was installed in the factory but in May 1970 moved to the station square of the city.

It is also worth to visit the monument «Tyl – frontu». The monument depicts a warrior with a sword, looking to the West, and worker, who looking to the direction of the Magnitogorsk metallurgical factory. Height of the bronze monument is 15 meters. It was created in 1979. In front of the monument burns The eternal flame. The monument is part of a triptych, which also includes monuments «Motherland» in Volgograd and «Warrior-liberator» in Treptow Park in Berlin. The monument is not accidental here, because Magnitogorsk has made a significant contribution in the fight against Nazi troops. According to statistics, every second tank, every third shell and every third shell were made from Magnitogorsk metal.




We else have Magnitogorsk tower «Couranty». It is in the center of Magnitogorsk, on the area of festivities at the White house. In 1979, the city was preparing to celebrate the 50, it was decided to build any monument, and the idea arose spontaneously in just a few months before the celebration. The main challenge was that the time wasn't enough. However, this problem had solved and «Couranty» had constructed in time. Quadrangular tower, faced with white marble and red pattern, rises to a height of 29 meters. In the first year we have a problem with a clockwork mechanism — the clocks ran ahead, lagged behind, and even stopped. All the faults were eliminated and in 1981 the mechanism was improved. Also tower "Chimes" is famous for its show of fountains. Show of fountains turn on summer. It' very interesting show with bright illumination.
