Introducing myself, following the template by @TeamSteem

A little bit about me:

My name is Nick, I am Ukrainian and have been living in Shanghai, China for the past 10 years. It’s been a crazy ride so far with its peaks and valleys, although mostly - peaks.

Why am I here?

The objective is to embark on this new journey of attempting to put my experiences and observations into words, as well as share some knowledge and tips about making music and designing sound. Let’s see how this goes.

Making some noise!

Music and specifically blues and rock-n-roll have always been my passion and growing up I couldn’t ever believe that it was possible to be part of this wonderful sonic universe. Meeting some incredibly talented people from all over the world here in Shanghai helped me see that everything was possible and it was never too late to start, and so I bought a guitar and started chipping away at it.

Over the past 10 years, I’ve been involved in the live music scene as a sound engineer and had a chance to work with a myriad of world class musicians.

I’ve also done a lot of theatre, where I had a chance of doing original music and sound design for about 50 different productions. One of the highlights was presenting my original music during our production of Hamlet, that played at Shanghai Grand Theatre.

I currently work as a sound designer and composer for a video game company, and it’s super fun weather it is recording funny character voices or designing sounds of impactful futuristic gunshots.

I really want to start writing regularly but a little stuck in terms of how to start. Any tips?

Go read my second latest blog post. I talk about a technique my mentor used to teach me. The concept of KISS. Keeping things stupidly simple.

That's what you need to apply in terms of everything you are going through. I know exactly where you are, I used to feel the same way too. What helped me, was to stop over-thinking, and just do.

For now, just take a shit load of pictures, and write about whatever you are passionate about. It doesn't have to be perfect.

I personally know a few best selling authors, and one of them is my mentor. He told me his book had tons of grammar errors, but that doesn't matter. It was about the story inside the book, and his passion for his career that got his book to the top, not it being perfect.

So for now, my main advice to you would be to stopping thinking, and start doing. Action is the only thing that creates results.
