Thanks for sharing the google map link. That looks to be a huge river, the Kama river close by, it looks more like a lake than a river.
It's a water reservoir made on the river Kama. It's called 'Votkinskoe vodokhraniliche'. There is an electric power station at its' end.
That would explain why it's so big.
