My Journey in the Blockchain Jungle Continues on Steemit

in #introduceyourself9 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemians, let me introduce myself and tell you my little story. I'm a programmer, game developer, tech-consumer transforming in a entrepreneur and cryptocurrency enthusiast. I knew about steemit for a while but last week I decided to give it a try and I was impressed of how it feels.

Currently blockchain technologies are my primary interest and this is my mission on steemit: to grasp as much knowledge a I can, to share my thoughts and whatever I know. My blockchain journey started about one year and a half when I was looking for a change and I started to read about bitcoin and blockchains. I've invested some money, I've worked on a few side projects in this field, that at some point faded away.

First Hit

At that time, I knew about bitcoin for a while, but only when I read the technical details about how bitcoin works, I found it amazing. I found even more amazing the fact that some guy, nobody know who, created a sector which now worth 100 billions USD. He created it out of nothing. Then I read how bitcoin community including the developers can not reach to a consensus and in the same time I read about the new kid on the blockchain, Vitalik Buterin, and the platform he's working on, called Ethereum. What I read there blow my mind. I thought smart contracts is the way to be, the way blockchain can be extended to support not only transactions like a big step in the future. So I went there and put some money in and after 18 months, bang: those money went up by 200x. And I still think it has a high room to grow.

Second Hit

Then I went on Poloniex, looked up for a few coins, lost some money, trying to be smart, buying low and selling high. That sort of manually high frequency trading didn't work for me. In the meanwhile I was reading about other coins, looking for the next Ethereum to invest in(which at that point was up only by 10x). I looked at coins from the first wave, practically bitcoin clones. Nothing impressive. At some point I saw an obscure coin called Reddcoin trading for a few Satoshi: between 2-6.

I read more about it, they went from PoW to PoS and they were in the same category like Dogecoin. But the Dogecoin is super-inflationary, which I avoid for a coin. Reddcoin had a nice and clean website, publishing a status every 2 weeks, nice community built around it. So I went a brought some(on Poloniex). I left it there and at some point the price went under 2 Satoshi and Poloniex de-listed it. I said, ok another bad investment, forget about it. I'm not the type of person to check on daily basis my portfolio, just buy and forget about.

So I forgot it. Until 2 weeks ago, when I went and check the Reddcoin price and BANG: it went up 20x in about one year.

Third Hit

It seems I repeated the process a few month later. Brought some Iconomi during the Ico. When I checked it a few weeks ago, guess what: it was another hit, about 30x in about 8-9 months.

Trying to Keep the Story Going

I don't have much knowledge about technical analysis and parameters used primarily in stocks and Forex market, but I'am an avid reader of what several people are constantly publishing( @maarnio, @stew, @encryptcy, @jarexx, @shawnjdiggy). This is why I intend to continue investing in the way I did it until now and to journal it on steemit. I'll using using my programmer background, looking for coins which are having real use-cases, community built around them and long term potential.

One of them is steem and steemit platform. It has a vibrant community, from which I decided to be part. I also decided to invested some amount in steem so today powered it up to 2000 Steem Power. I'm thinking to double it up. I look at it like a long term investment in something that already produces value. And not to mention I'll be more committed to the be active in the process of writing and curating.

Being part in my short time of one week form steemit, I found that in the beginning it's much better to engage in relevant discussion trying to complete what other people posts. This is the quickest way to start building your reputation. Then after having a few followers you can start posting your own content and this is what I did. Special thanks to the following authors whose posts helped me until now:

You did some very good investments, but indeed it wasn't easy for you make up your mind to invest real money into a project that is not hyped and no one seems to talk about.
Like you've mentioned Reddcoin - no ordinary trader would've looked at it a year ago. Indeed, you have a good understanding of the blockchain / smart contracts market, three great deals in a row are not a coincidence.

Keep it up, wish you best of luck!

They were not the only ones, but those were the most relevant to my story. They paid back not only financially but also giving a good feeling...

A feeling of making a right trade gives such a kick, I know what you mean :)

thanks for the shoutout, im following and have upvoted... i have a suggestion for your posts, for links at the end it looks better to have the title as the link and not just a link so like this

HOW TO GROW YOUR STEEMIT FOLLOWERS FAST

feel free to mention me in anything you think i will like ;-)

True, I'm changing it in a few hours, when I'll access my computer

Great first post. I have such a similar story.
I think steemit will be the future of crypto and social. Steemit is going to be big! Steem on

Hi @steem-buzz, i am quite new to steemit and it seems like a very exciting journey for us all! In my jurney so far i totally changed my way to deal with the platform. From - i can make money with steemit to - i really enjoy the growing community and i am totally stunned by the whole blockchain stuff which is quite new to me as well. And if my participating is rewarded a little bit (never did a post worth more than 6 bucks) i am super happy.
You said you are quite educated concerning programing, i feel quite confident with my chart technical analysis (edit: i have been trading at stock markets for more than ten years) maybe we can learn from each other.(resteemed a very good post on researching cryptos, helped me a lot)Following you.

upvoted! i wish to give $25 upvote but my max vote only $0.03

Well done. Thank you for the mention.

Love that leading picture. Im saving it lol

I've tried to find something relevant. Journey, jungle - the unknown, the bridge which looks to me like a blockchain.
