Very much misunderstood, So called "mental illness" is a product of the environment the mind lives in. Be more than happy if I may help having tried to understand a lot about this. Especially now having to deal with a form of mental illness myself. After getting Meningitis I now have Hydrocephalus, possibly Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus.
My environment was good untill i kept being told i was different. if they tell you enough you start to believe it yourself. It's a burden as a child but a gift as an adult.
Yes, just have to learn to make the best of it and hope they do as well.
