Introducing Myself
Hello everyone, I am Thersites, better known as Thersites the Historian over on YouTube. I am looking for a platform to post my content and I see some promise in Steemit and Dtube.
As my YouTube handle implies, a solid majority of my videos cover history topics. Most of the history that I cover is ancient and medieval, but I dabble in other subjects from time-to-time. My specialty is ancient Greek history, but I like to use video-making as a way to expand my historical knowledge. Some of my videos are modified versions of lectures that I have delivered in college survey courses and other videos were made specifically for the general viewing public. My marquis series at this point is my series on the emperors of Byzantium. So far, I have covered everyone from Arcadius to Theodosius III (717).
The second-most important thing that I do on my channel is discuss American politics. I am a left-wing atheist and most of my videos to this point have focused on combating Neoliberalism and its adherents in both major parties. Going forward, I am looking to expand into more fully exploring issues like inequality and looking at how different presidential administrations have performed as vehicles for public change.
On occasion, I also make video game play through videos for retro games. My favorite old-school console is the Sega Genesis. I will continue doing that and I am sure that some of those videos will pop up on Dtube as well. Going forward, I plan to post footage of Sega Saturn games and I would also like to make videos detailing the reasons why Sega consoles like the 32X and Saturn were unsuccessful.
The least well-represented category of videos that I create are what I can best describe as "popular culture" in the broadest sense. I occasionally make videos about Star Trek, Star Wars, the NBA, or whatever is on my mind.
