RE: Defrosting an Electric Car During a Blizzard
Having remote control of the heater is cool. You can have it defrosting whilst you have breakfast. Was the car really warm inside after that? Does it generally warm up quickly on a cold day? I assume it's just an electric heater that will eat some power from the battery. I have wondered if petrol cars help defrost the roads with the heat of their engines, but electric cars wouldn't do that. I'd like my next car to be electric if possible.
Any car will only be transferring much heat to the air around it. The tire friction will heat the road a bit but that isn't coming directly from the engine, that's kinetic energy being converted to heat.
Yes, the car was quite warm when I got in. On a normal cold day it will heat in a few minutes, even today it would have heated much faster if I just pushed the snow off first.
