Pengakuan Sosial
Pengakuan sosial (social proof), kadang-kadang disebut "naluri kelompok", membuat seseorang merasa bersikap sama seperti orang lain. Dengan kata lain, semakin banyak orang yang mengikuti gagasan tertentu, semakin kita menganggapnya lebih benar.
Dan semakin banyak orang yang menunjukkan tingkah laku tertentu, semakin pantaslah tingkah laku itu di mata banyak orang. Itu tentu saja konyol.
Pengakuan sosial adalah kejahatan di balik gelembung dan kepanikan pasar modal. Pengakuan sosial juga terjadi di dunia mode, teknik manajemen, hobi, agama, dan diet.
Pengakuan sosial dapat melumpuhkan keseluruhan budaya, seperti ketika sekte-sekte melakukan bunuh diri massal.
