Satellite data for fishing boat
Thanks to the use of satellites it is now possible to track the movements of fishing vessels, with particular interest when they deliver the catch to the other ships, which carry the load to the ground.

It is called transshipping, it is the moment when a fishing vessel delivers to another ship all the cargo caught during the previous days. It is a known and widespread technique, which saves time and money, because it allows fishing boats to stay far from the coasts for months. In addition to this perfectly legal activity, can be hid behind transshipping illegal trafficking, not just fish, but also weapons and drugs. Thanks to the use of satellite data it will be much easier to keep track of all the movements made by the boats, thus promoting the prevention of illicit traffic.
Radioactive aluminum in space
A group of researchers managed to reveal the presence of radioactive aluminum in a cloud that was generated more than 300 years ago by the clash of two stars. The result was published in Nature Astronomy

Radioactive aluminum (and precisely the isotope with a mass number of 26) is rare in our galaxy. It is estimated that in total there is a quantity equal to two solar masses. Radioactive aluminum can be produced by the fusion of two stars, and can then be dispersed in space at the end of the life cycle of the star. However, to date, it is not possible to explain the presence throughout the galaxy of this element, because the stellar collisions should not be sufficient to produce the observed quantity. The presence of radioactive aluminum confirms that the observed nebula is originated as a result of a stellar fusion process, but this discovery could lead to the recalculation of the amount of aluminum produced in this kind of cosmic phenomena. This would give an explanation of the amount of material observed in the galaxy.

Grazie all’utilizzo dei satelliti ora è possibile tracciare i movimenti delle navi da pesca, con particolare interesse al momento in cui consegnano il pescato nelle mani di altre navi, che portano il carico fino a terra.

Si chiama transshipping, è il momento in cui una nave da pesca consegna ad un’altra nave tutto il carico pescato nel corso dei giorni precedenti. È una tecnica nota e diffusa, che permette di risparmiare tempo e denaro, perché permette ai pescherecci di rimanere in mare per mesi. Oltre a questa attività, perfettamente legale, dietro al transshipping possono nascondersi traffici illeciti, non solo di pesci, ma anche di armi e droga. Grazie all’utilizzo dei dati satellitari sarà molto più facile tenere traccia di tutti gli spostamenti effettuati dalle imbarcazioni, favorendo così la prevenzione dei traffici illeciti.
Alluminio radioattivo nello spazio
Un gruppo di ricercatori è riuscito a rivelare la presenza di alluminio radioattivo in una nube che si è generata oltre 300 anni fa dallo scontro di due stelle. Il risultato è stato pubblicato su Nature Astronomy.

L’alluminio radioattivo (e precisamente l’isotopo con un numero di massa pari a 26) è raro nella nostra galassia. Si stima che in totale ve ne sia una quantità pari ad appena due masse solari. L’alluminio radioattivo può essere prodotto dalla fusione di due stelle, e può in seguito essere disperso nello spazio, alla fine del ciclo vitale dell’astro. Tuttavia, ad oggi, non è possibile spiegare la presenza in tutta la galassia di questo elemento, perché le sole collisioni stellari non dovrebbero essere sufficienti per produrne la quantità osservata. La presenza di alluminio radioattivo conferma che la nebulosa osservata si è originata in seguito a un processo di fusione stellare, ma questa scoperta potrebbe portare al ricalcolo della quantità di alluminio prodotto in questo genere di fenomeni cosmici. Questo permetterebbe di dare una spiegazione della quantità di materiale osservato nella galassia.
