Ueno Toshogu 上野東照宮
I went to Ueno Toshogu Shrine. Toshogu is a shrine that worshiped Tokugawa Shogun Ieyasu. This torii was made in 1633.
上野東照宮に行ってきました。
東照宮とは徳川初代将軍家康を祀った神社です。
この鳥居は1633年に作られたものです。
Existing shrine was built by Shogun Iemitsu of Tokugawa in 1651.
Iemitsu TOKUGAWA was the third Seii Taishogun (literally, "great general who subdues the barbarians") from 1623 to 1651 of the Edo bakufu.
現存する社殿は1651年に徳川三代将軍家光によって造営されました。

Stone lantern
There are more than 200, mostly dedicated from various daimyo names in the year 1651 of the current building construction.
石灯籠
200基以上あり、ほとんどが現在の社殿の建築の年1651年に諸大名より奉納されたものです。
Karamon
It is gold and beautiful, and the forehead around the gate is carved with a dragon.
唐門
金色で美しく、門の周りの額には龍の彫刻がされています。
Shrine
Building behind the Tang Gate becomes the shrine.
It is said that it built a luxurious shrine for the people of Edo who can not visit Toshogu in Nikko.
社殿
唐門の後ろの建物が社殿になります。
日光の東照宮までお参りにいけない江戸の人々のために日光東照宮に準じた豪華な社殿を建立したと言われています。

私も友人と行ったんですが友人に言われるまで知りませんでした。
Ueno Toshogu Shrine has so much history to it. When it was built it was a long time ago. Can you even imagine what it was like back then. Wouldn't it be fun to travel back in time to experience what it was actually like then. Thank-you for sharing Kinakomochi!
Torii, stone lanterns and shrines all leave the figure at that time. I think that repair has been added to the shrine.

上野に東照宮があるとは知りませんでした。
静岡にも東照宮があるんですよ。
晩年を駿府(静岡)で過ごした家康は「遺体は久能山に葬るように」と遺言したのだそうです。
その後二代将軍秀忠の命によりその地に創建されたのが久能山東照宮です。
静岡にも東照宮があるんですね。家康好きなので行ってみたいです ^ ^
私も上野東照宮のこと知りませんでした！徳川家康さんに憧れているのに、、、

私も徳川家康大好きです。一歩一歩我慢して長い時間かけて上りつめていった感じが好きですね。
