I tend to agree with the infogram, which tends to suggest python in most cases. Python is a great "quick start" language that you can quickly use to do small to medium size tasks. Next I'd go for C++, which is a great "typed" language that's suitable for very large projects (it is complicated but not as complicated as building a car).
