This ordeal strikes me as a moment of magnificence and also a near death experience, it’s a bit overwhelming because it happened recently, I am the first child of my family and I was brought up with the idea that kindness is of the heart and giving it is prompt to receiving it. Things are not always as they seem I have come to understand, this is an episode in my life that I know has left a mark on me and I will never forget.

Getting a job in my country is very difficult due to large population over few job opportunity, I was on break from the university and I decided to use the few months at my disposal to earn money by doing some work, I major in computer science, so technically I know a lot about computer so I thought that could be used as an entry point into the job market, so I started searching for work and asking around and eventually I met with a very good friend of mine who gave me the contact to an engineer who require my service, so I made a call and I found out he needed someone with skills in networking and I was not very good at that, but instead of me saying I can’t do it I told him I could because I know all I needed to do was find someone who can and we could both share the pay.

The client explained that he was setting up an office at his house and just needed some networking to go round, so We fixed a date which was a week from then, and all I had to do now is to find that guy that is good at networking, I do have a lot of friend though not that much so I made a few calls and I was pointed at the right direction. Four days to the scheduled day I met with him exchanged pleasantries, introduced ourselves and we discussed what was expected of him and he totally guarantee that he could the job, and I believed that this was a mutual benefit because if it wasn’t for me he wouldn’t get the job and without him I can’t get the job done. So eventually we went and he did the work perfectly. We got paid and because I knew he did most of the work he got a better a pay.

The next day I got a call from my friend that introduced me to the engineer that the engineer called him and told him some jewelries belonging to his wife was stolen from his home the same day we came to work for him and nobody was at the house except us and that if we know what is good for us we should return them or else the consequence will be unbearable. Since I was the architect of the whole business everything came down to me, I knew I took nothing from that house so I decided to call my partner to which he denied taking anything also. I didn’t know what to do anymore because if it’s not with him and it’s not with me then who could have taken it. Then I decide to call the engineer myself and he sounded so angry on the phone, lots of threats, lot of curses, he wouldn’t let me say a word so I cut the call on him.

The following day or let’s say the next day he came by my house with some police men, I don’t know how he got my address, my parents were around, and the engineer was just screaming, my parents begged but to no avail I was arrested and locked up, the whole scenario was a bit embarrassing.

Wasn’t tortured but was threatened that I was going to stay locked up until I spit the truth. Yes, that was the word ‘spit’. So they had me bring in the other guy. He was questioned to which he continues to deny. He told the police men that he saw me put somethings in my bag after coming out of one of the rooms and I could remember he was the only one that kept on going in and out of other room with the intent to fix some issues and really I wholly suspected him. After hearing what he said the policemen came back to question me again now with the intent of torturing me if I don’t confess.

In my school I was on scholarship and if something of this nature happen and the school get to hear I am involved somehow I could lose my scholarship. I was hit a bit and they kept promising it will get worse if I don’t say anything. two days passed and I was so scared of the torture I may receive due to stories I’ve heard so I told them and I cooked up a story about what I did with the jewelries. I was shocked when the police man told me I don’t have to lie just because of the fear of torture and that I was free to go.

Then they apologize and warned me about making friends with people I don’t know and how they could get me into trouble. They told me that my friend which is the guy that introduce me to the engineer made some digging up and found that the network guy was the actually the guy that stole the jewelry and sold it to some other guys and that they made their own investigation and found out it was true. So that was magnificence because I was ready to take the fall for something I did not do just to end it all until and I believe it was God that intervened through my friend to save me.

The near death experience I had was on that same day, while coming home on a bike I had an accident. The bike was hit by a vehicle from behind. The only thing I remember was me sitting on a bike then some blurry white images (I can’t even describe what I saw) and me waking up in the hospital with little bruises. So I believe I was completely knocked out after the accident to which my parent told me I was making some chattering noises about going home and raising up my hand to the sky, and they were a bit scared then.

So that is my story, from one tribulation to another, I recovered and here I am writing the story. these are the days that I know I will never forget.
