THEY WOULD NOT WANT TO RECEIVE THE TRUTH
10 AND WITH ALL UNRIGHTEOUS DECEPTION AMONG THOSE WHO PERISH, BECAUSE THEY DID NOT RECEIVE THE LOVE OF THE TRUTH, that they might be saved.
11 And for this reason GOD WILL SEND THEM STRONG DELUSION, that they should believe the lie.”
2 Thessalonians 2:10,11 (NKJV)
If God has been sending His Word to someone or a group of people that they might change from the evil things they have been doing, but they refused to change or heed His word; God may eventually allow them to have their way and let them believe the lie of the enemy, the devil (2 Thessalonians 2:11).
Our text, the passage of the Bible, says God will send them strong delusion that they should believe the lie (2 Thessalonians 2:11).
Do not despise the riches of God’s goodness, otherwise you might be allowed to be deceived: "OR DO YOU DESPISE THE RICHES OF HIS GOODNESS, FORBEARANCE, AND LONG-SUFFERING, NOT KNOWING THAT THE GOODNESS OF GOD LEADS YOU TO REPENTANCE?” (Romans 2:4 NKJV)
Some people could have found peace in life, but they did not accept God’s offer of salvation; they refused to love and embrace the truth being sent to them for the salvation of their souls (2 Thessalonians 2:10).
Now, it is not only on salvation; some could have found direction for their lives but they refused God’s leading on the plans He has for their lives (Proverbs 23:9).
Also, God has sent His servants to some people; to feed them with His Word and pray for them, that they might be delivered from their predicaments, but they did not heed the messenger sent to them—they trivialised what he told them: "FOR INDEED THE GOSPEL WAS PREACHED TO US AS WELL AS TO THEM; BUT THE WORD WHICH THEY HEARD DID NOT PROFIT THEM, NOT BEING MIXED WITH FAITH IN THOSE WHO HEARD IT" (Hebrews 4:2 NKJV).
“YET FOR MANY YEARS YOU HAD PATIENCE WITH THEM, AND TESTIFIED AGAINST THEM BY YOUR SPIRIT IN YOUR PROPHETS. YET THEY WOULD NOT LISTEN; THEREFORE YOU GAVE THEM INTO THE HAND OF THE PEOPLES OF THE LANDS."
Nehemiah 9:30 (NKJV)
“WHILE IT IS SAID: “TODAY, IF YOU WILL HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS AS IN THE REBELLION.”
Hebrews 3:15 (NKJV)
The truth is, If you failed to accept what God has offered you, He may have no option than to allow you to accept deceptions (2 Thessalonians 2:11).
If you are called to walk with God and live a practical Christian life, but you refused; God may allow you to have your way, but that would not be without repercussions, sufferings (Hebrews 3:12,13; 4:11).
11 BUT THEY REFUSED TO HEED, SHRUGGED THEIR SHOULDERS, AND STOPPED THEIR EARS SO THAT THEY COULD NOT HEAR.
12 YES, they made their hearts like flint, refusing to hear the law and the words which the Lord of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets. THUS GREAT WRATH CAME FROM THE LORD OF HOSTS.
- THEREFORE IT HAPPENED, THAT JUST AS HE PROCLAIMED AND THEY WOULD NOT HEAR, SO THEY CALLED OUT AND I WOULD NOT LISTEN ,” SAYS THE LORD OF HOSTS."
Zechariah 7:11-13 (NKJV)
What have you done and derived in the opportunities given to you to hear or receive the word of God this year?
You may have to do the appraisal of your walk with God this year, How did you fare?
Peace!
