Pleasure

One of my answers to my son’s question about the three important things in life was ‘pleasure’. I believe this because when you can no longer find any pleasure, there is no reason to live.

Some of you may still find pleasure in almost everything you do. In time this will gradually change. One by one things you now enjoy will become impossible. You may now enjoy tennis... someday you will play your final match. You may enjoy telling stories. Again, these will all be forgotten.

The reason I listed pleasure as a part of my top three most important things is because I have reached a point where my list of pleasurable activities has shrunk. All things change. Capacity and motivation eventually both fail.

Meanwhile, be young and have fun.
