Can you expand this idea so that it's not insular and benefits the community as a whole? Do your internal promoting if you wish but how about whales working together to ensure that the minnows get decent rewards too? A band of merry-men (or merry-whales) rather than the Sheriff's tax collectors.
The risk with whales forming a ring and upvoting each other is that your posts will dominate the platform and suffocate it. I'm sure that's not what you had in mind, but I thought it might be worth bringing up.
Yes I understand why it would not be beneficial to the community as a whole. I come from the investor point of view. Just looking for new ways to generate more steem power. As a Whale what i do is spread the money around. I have a lot of influence when I up vote someones post. So I go to were the new post and new people are posting. Up vote all the new post whether good or bad I reward them just for posting. I get rewarded steem power for doing this and the person posting get inspiration and steem power to.
Yeah, that's the way @juneaugoldbuyer. Even from the investor point of view, that's the right course of action because without that the platform dies and you lose your investment. I see the whales coming in for a lot of heat around this on the site and that's to be expected... but I also see a lot of you guys doing what you just described, and spreading the upvotes around.
I think it's exactly because you guys understand that your investment relies on the success of the platform, that you will take the time to seek out under rewarded users. If I were in your position, I'd definitely be rallying any whales who are not active in that regard, to that cause, for the longevity of the company.
