_{Set of Double Pointed Needles with Knitting Gauge.}

I found this super set of double pointed knitting needles (dpns) on Amazon recently. They’re made of bamboo and the whole set cost around £6 or a bit over 60 Steem. It came with a knitting gauge so I can tell what sizes different needles are - it's a very useful gadget. You can see the same set here.

I only had a good set of metal dpns for sock making so it’s good to have spares and to try different types of needles. I did a test run with the number 3mm needles and they were a little bit 'noisy' when knitting. The knitting didn't glide easily; I'm not sure whether that was due to the yarn or the needles, but I have a feeling it was the latter.

Incidentally I still haven’t got round to finishing my latest pair of socks, but that didn't stop me from getting totally tempted to stock up on cheap yarn from the supermarket Lidl’s.

Each set of yarn balls was about £4.99 or a bit over 50 Steem. You can see some photos below :

The two balls above are very strikingly different in colour. Currently I can get a pair of socks out of 100g so that’s enough for two pairs of very different design and leftovers.

These two balls in the set are just the same colour - so I could have 4 pairs at least in this colourway.

I was really happy when I found these cheap options in the supermarket. At the time I wasn’t looking to increase my yarn stash but I couldn’t just pass it all by. The yarn has been of good quality so I’m looking forward to resuming sock knitting soon. As I explained last year, this time of the year is called ‘socktober’, 'socks' + 'October', because the colder and darker weather is ideal to sit down and knit socks. I’ve been a bit busy lately so I’ve found it a bit hard to finish my socks, but I still have 11 days to try and complete that pair so I can start on these other yarns.
