Yarn Event Update - 19 September 2024

I was really focused on getting to the supermarket on a non-shopping day to try and get some of that nice cheap yarn at Aldi’s. I wrote about their promotional leaflet here. The earlier you get there, the more choice you have, or as the saying goes ‘the early bird catches the worm’.

Before setting off I thought I’d have a last look online to dream of what I was going to make. My dreams were totally dashed. The online promotional leaflet page clearly stated it all over the yarn area :

SORRY, THIS SPECIAL BUY is DELAYED

When I clicked on the graphics giving that information, I was led to a different page where there was a listing of the items that are delayed and they provide a date when they will be back in stock. All the dates given included the caveat TBC which means ‘to be confirmed’. I must therefore presume that on the day given, 22 September, the products may not be available anyway.

On the one hand I was very disappointed that there would be no yarn event for me. On the other hand I was relieved I hadn’t made my way to the supermarket yet. Getting there and finding out that there was no yarn event at all would have been worse so I was lucky. I just need to be a little more patient and wait.

In the meantime I will continue to knit the second sock. I’ve already knitted the trickiest section which is the heel (and gusset) as it involves picking up tiny stitches.
