Sailing Night!
Again, not a Sunday by my graphic design team is on strike and I just got off the lake.
An EXTRA long ass drive due to traffic and accidents but we made it. We had to high-tail it out to the course and it was blowing almost 20 knots and maybe 5 foot waves so we had our hands full. We started half a leg back from the pack because of the traffic related tardiness but the beer tasted just as good.
Moment of the race was when the skipper called for us to raise the pole and prep for spinnaker launch and the boat owner had a look of disbelief in his shocked face. Too much wind and the kite still in the bag down below. We got it up and managed to stay on the boat.
Ended up in third despite our late start but Wednesdays are for fun. Beer and company made it worth it and the awesome burgers afterward were the icing on the cake.
Here's the crew heading out to the course.
A little action shot with some jib grinding.
As soon as we got in, the clouds cleared, wind died, and sunset threw some nice rays on the masts at the club as we enjoyed our burgers.
Sail on STEEMers!
looks like you had a blast! Sailing is so much fun!!!
Yes it is such a good escape from the work week for some silliness, adventure, and sport all in one. I would recommend it to anyone. The fact that boats need crew every week and it is newbie friendly (can you spot the first time sailor in the pics?) makes it something EVERYONE should do!
Great post!
Thanks for tasting the eden!
