I understand how you feel @happyworkingmom. My two sons are totally different. My first son taught himself Korean letters before elementary school. My second son couldn't write his name. Korean public school provide a lot of extra help programs. Keep reading a book each night and follow the words with your finger. You are right not to push kids to read before 7. Although my second son is slow in reading in math he is adorable and makes up songs and volunteers to help out a lot. They are special and beautiful.
