Surprise for Jokowi: Meet Super Junior Boyband!

Finally, the surprise delivered by Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi when she arrived in South Korea was answered. It turned out that the surprise in question was President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo the arrival of a special guest namely Super Junior alias Suju boyband on Monday night (10/9).

Boyband, which was fronted by Choi Siwon, had come to the Lotte Hotel, where Jokowi and First Lady Iriana Jokowi were staying during their stay in Ginseng. The name of Jokowi did soar in South Korea during the Asian Games yesterday. Because, they did not expect a state leader to be willing to ride a big motorbike to open the second biggest sporting event after the Olympics.

Their meeting photos were then uploaded on Super Junior's official social media account and have been viral since last night. Then, what impression did Suju's personnel get when finally meeting Jokowi?

Actually, the meeting of Super Junior's personnel with Jokowi is not the only time this has happened. In 2017, Suju's leader Leeteuk also came to Jakarta at the invitation of the former Governor of DKI Jakarta to attend the Indonesia-Korea business summit. In fact, Leeteuk bluntly invited Jokowi to come to the Land of Ginseng and watch their concert.

"I was present at the invitation of the President of Indonesia. I am proud to be here. Jokowi invited us, we are honored," said Leeteuk when giving a speech at the Shangri-La Hotel at the Indonesia-Korea Business Summit in March last year.

Now the meeting is realized. Suju gave a surprise by visiting the hotel where Jokowi was staying and giving souvenirs in the form of their album. The album was signed directly by all Super Junior personnel. By Suju, this step they call "Super Junior Diplomacy".

Their meeting photos are then uploaded to each Suju personnel social media account. Choi Siwon said that he was very honored to meet with President Jokowi.

"I am very inspired (by Jokowi). I am looking forward to strengthening cultural exchanges with Indonesia in the future," Siwon wrote and uploaded to his social media account on Monday night (10/9).
