세월이 젊음에게
-밥, 그 지독한 진지함

삶은 죽음을 먹는 것이다.
앞의 밥상을 보라,
저 먹음직한 나물은
얼마 전까지 바람에 나부끼던 푸른 식물이었고,
잘 조려진 생선은 한때
바다를 헤엄치던 힘찬 생물이었다.
삶은 하루하루 죽음을 먹는 것이기 때문에
지루할 수 없고,
빚지지 않은 것이 없고,
치열하지 않을 수 없다.

출처가 어디인지, 누가 적은 글인지는 알아보지 않았으나
내 협소한 마음이나마 울리는 감동이 있어 그 자리에서 번역했던 기억이 있다.

치열하고 싶은 마음은 애초에 없었으나 감사하는 마음 정도는 가져보려한다.
