At first, I subscribed to this platform because it was based in California and seemed leggit. Nevertheless the service has been worsening.
I am sure you are all familiar with this screenshot (basically it happens 50% of the time on this trading platform...).

My own Take on Kraken's Service and Issues
I started by using this platform when I entered the CryptoWorld. Nowadays, I was just using it to withdraw Fiat currencies to be honest. The platform was just not functioning well.
Here are some of the platforms that I use.
Binance: I just discovered it a few days ago and it is very easy to use, very fast and with a lot of altcoins to trade and low fees. If you would like to register please click on this referral link: https://www.binance.com/?ref=21353975
Bitfinex: Nice platform even if its founders are sometimes not liked by the community (Tether founders as well). Nevertheless, the platform looks good, is fluid and you can even do leverage (careful if you are not a profesionnal trader). There are a lot of different coins but less than on Binance.
Bittrex: One of the platform with the most altcoins (including Steem and SBD so useful for Steemians). I do not like how the platform looks and you cannot use leverage on it. Nevertheless, great one for the Altcoins selection.

This is a real problem with Kraken, but they make so much money that hopefully they will not disappear.

"Hopefully" ^^ This has been going on for a while and therefore, it should have been fixed a while ago...
May be that They got a dDos attack. Many times hackers abuse announced upgrades to first dDos a site and then break into servers and do what they want. It this scenario have unrolled may be some funds will go bye bye!
read this post: Why IRS can bust you on centralized exchanges and not on Bitshares! to get some idea why centralized web sided exchanges are honey pots for hackers or better said crackers because hackers should be by definition good guys.
@vlemon I also use Kraken, may be things will get better after the upgrade as there were a lot of issues and the support was not that great! Fingers crossed :)

I once used Kraken some months ago and really nothing worked. It´s simply unusable. Kraken sucks. End of story. Thank god, there are many good alternatives. I love Trex and (even though there were some issues in the past weeks) even HitBTC is better than Kraken.
I also encounter the same issues. Kraken's fees are also high. That's why I'm staying away from it.
What I don't like with Bitfinex is its high minimum withdrawal amount for almost all of its coins. The Bitfinex GUI is good though. I use it to buy IOTA and NEO which are highly traded in this exchange.
For BTC, Ripple and Litecoin, I currently use Bitstamp. The interface is also good and I see less service interruptions.
