Kratom Video Banned by Youtube 2018

As of late, many YouTuber’s have been making complaints about YouTube's removal of their videos and demonetization of what YouTube deems "dangerous" or "inappropriate". Yet if you've seen any of these videos it seems very strange why YouTube would do such a thing since the content is usually just fine for most viewing audiences. Freedom of speech is being eroded on many of these major providers.

This has become a real problem and one we experienced just this morning.

We created a channel for our website and kept the videos unlisted which basically means that if you do not have the direct link to the video, you can’t watch it and it won’t show up in a search. The other way it can be watched is through embedding it on a website which we did.

I sent out a newsletter to people who signed up to hear from us letting everyone know that we had Kratom trees available for sale and indicated that we made an unboxing video of what the plants would look like so that our customers would know what to expect and how to unpack it safely.

The unboxing was done on March 28th, 2018 and was uploaded on March 30th. Twenty-five days later, today April 24th, 2018 we received an email from YouTube stating the following:

“As you may know, our Community Guidelines describe which content we allow – and don’t allow – on YouTube. Your video "Live Kratom Tree Unboxing March 30th, 2018" was flagged for review. Upon review, we’ve determined that it violates our guidelines. We’ve removed it from YouTube and assigned a Community Guidelines strike, or temporary penalty, to your account."

So…having experience in the blockchain tech world, I uploaded my video to D.Tube the same day I uploaded my video to YouTube knowing full well that the Google owned company didn’t like Kratom and hasn’t allowed advertising of Kratom products on their ad platforms since 2008 (we used to advertise through Google back then). In fact, we were surprised that they allowed any videos on YouTube at all but knew the writing had been on the wall for some time.

With the advent of blockchain technology we've been able to innovate and bring this new technology to the masses as a very real alternative to places like YouTube where we can post any video we want without fear of it being demonetized or removed.

And even though many of these new platforms are still in their beta phases, the developers of these open source platforms are ardent believers in the future of this technology and have been working on them, many of them on their own dime, night and day.

One of these blockchain innovations is the very blog we are now posting this article on called Steemit,and the technology behind it is the Steem blockchain. One of the many derivatives of Steem includes sites like D.Tube and D.Live where you can upload your videos just like with YouTube but the very real difference is that you cannot be censored AND they are automatically eligible for monetization.

I won’t go into the details about how that all works but only to say that we are now using D.Tube for all of our videos moving forward. You can give people a direct link to your video and you can embed them on your website just like you can with popular websites like YouTube.
